The first time I bought OPI nail polish, I thought that the colors were fabulous, but It was OPI color names that immediately captured my imagination, which is what a color name is meant to do.
You can go from adventurous "Big Apple Red" to "Lincoln Park After Dark." Both these color names instantly transport you to a memorable time in the city that never sleeps.
Can you picture yourself in "My Private Jet." Or feels worldly and powerful with "Russian Navy."
Color names like "Do I Need Sunglasses," "Is Mai Tai Crooked?" and "Aloha" is a vacation in a bottle.
A soft, quiet pink, "Bubble Bath" sounds sweet, innocent, and a bit indulgent. Is it any surprise it is a favorite choice of brides?
Color names can do so much more than describe a color. They can communicate feelings, capture imagination, be aspirational, and tell a story that puts you squarely in the starring role. OPI color names do all of these things beautifully, and it is as easy as a manicure or pedicure to share your story with the word.
If you have ever wondered who comes up with those creative color names, you can find out more about the woman behind the colors in this interview.
OPI did not invent the idea of nail polish or cornered the market on great colors, but they certainly set themselves apart with how they chose to name their colors. I bet if you asked any stylish woman, she could recall at least one OPI color name. Many might say one of the most memorable names, "I'm Not Really A Waitress," which is what the company selected for the title of their book celebrating 25 Years.
More recently a new book about OPI and how co-founder Suzi Weiss-Fischmann transformed a small dental supply company into a #1 beauty brand around the world.
25 Years Of OPI Color Names
OPI was still the "new kid" when I first tried OPI, so it seems hard to believe they are celebrating 25 years of bringing color to the world and that their business has grown across 75 countries and six continents.
For over two decades, OPI has offered brilliant color and style, and their 25th-anniversary collection continues in that tradition.
The colors are timeless, with a richness and diversity of style that will satisfy every fashion personality and will blend perfectly with this season's fashion colors. Warm caramel, deep brown, rich reds, and the sophisticated mid-shades of straw, gray flannel, and moss green will all stand out aside brown.
With new OPI color names like "Decades of Shades," "OH…To Be 25 Again!" or "OP-I Love This Color" to celebrate this milestone, my only question is which color to try first?

A couple of my favorite colors are the cleverly named "Monsooner or Later" a shade of red/orange that screamed summer pedicure. And a similar color that blends perfectly with tan skin, "The Tasmanian Devil Made Me Do It."
