Trend Spotted…the statement necklace

No need to verbalize too much on this trend…. because this season’s must-have accessory, the statement necklace, truly speaks for itself!

As far as necklaces go my motto has always been “the bigger, the more attention getting- the better”! So as you can imagine I’m thrilled with this trend.

For years I’ve scoured estate sales and thrift stores and have uncovered some real “gems” and now it seems as if my arsenal of vintage statement necklaces will be having their day in the sun all spring and summer long! Plus I can’t wait to add a few “newer” models to my collection as well!

Just a few of my “faves”!

An accessory that goes as easily with jeans and a tank by day as it does with a sexy little cocktail number by night- the bold necklace- really stands by itself- i.e. once it’s clasp you’re good to go (a big relief to those of us slightly accessory challenged!)

Investment wise, these superstar necklaces will be super trendy well into next fall. So if you fall in love with one- buy it now and take comfort in knowing that come next fall it will be just as cute paired with a turtleneck or wrapped in layers as it will be this summer paired with a colorful tunic!

Is this a trend for you? If so, what kind of “statement” will you be wearing this spring?

I would love to see some of your vintage statements….I bet you have quite a collection. I’m sure designers would also like to get their peeps on your stash !

Love what is happening with clothes, color, and jewelry! Breaking out the big guns!

I love this concept. I have my eye on a pale green number at Blanca Flor. Investing in a statement necklace. It wil always fit!

Great idea April! I just included a photo of some of my “go to” necklaces when I’m feeling the need to make a “statement” myself!

It’s funny but once I pulled a few of my favorites together for one photo- I realized how well they all coordinate with each other! I think I just spotted a buying pattern I wasn’t even aware of having!

So, just to shake it up a bit- I think I’ll follow SJP’s look and combine a few together for my next night out in the big city! Anyone want to meet for some cocktails?

After years of wearing little around my neck besides my diamond solitaire I think it’s time to make a statement with a bold necklace. Now the fun is deciding which one. I love your collection of necklaces. Thanks for sharing. ~Kate

Thanks for sharing your necklaces- you’ve inspired me to break out some of my vintage necklaces. I got a compliment on one of my Grandmother’s 60s goldtone chain necklaces with a giant brown stone in the center. You’ve given me the spark to wear them with pride.
