Today we bid farewell to a maestro of fashion, beauty and lifestyle. Yves Saint Laurent, the fashion designer whom first appeared on the fashion scene in the late 1950’s when he took over the reigns at Christan Dior at the mere age of 21, passed away this weekend at his home in Paris.

Yves Saint Laurent, from the beginning of his career in the 1950’s to his final walk down the runway in 2002, was a man of utmost style
A true pioneer of haute couture and a shaping force behind so many fashionable ideas it’s easy to forget they didn’t always exist ( he introduced the ideas of tuxedos and pants for women, wearing head to toe “beatnik” black, safari and military “uniforms” as high fashion, the whole uptown chic meets downtown bohemian craze, putting a westernized spin on traditional Russian, African and Asian garb and designed entire collections based on the inspiration of the colors and motifs of his favorite works of art - hum, all of these ideas sound so familiar this season-don’t they?) -he will be sadly missed.

Interestingly enough, this man who obviously loved color was once quoted as saying ” All a women really needs is a black pullover, a black skirt and the man that she loves on her arm.
We will always love you, Yves!

I can’t even imagine wearing a dress or skirt to work everyday . . . thank you Yves for making the pant suit fashionable and acceptable.
