President elect Obama is going to have a whole heap of important decisions to make over the next few weeks… but it seems as if one big appointment is complete. Who will rule over the ever important task or redecorating the presidential living quarters for the First Family!
Washington Post reveals today that it will be non other than California native and LA design guru Micheal S. Smith, whose interiors grace the abodes of such high profile clients as Rupert Murdoch, Steven Speilberg and Cindy Crawford. His talent for mixing both high and low priced pieces together… he was quoted as saying ‘sometimes all you really need is a jute rug from Pottery Barn’… will surely ring as an acceptable ideology for today’s unstable economic times.
His fan base is as vast as his product partnerships ( Visual Comforts, Ann Sacks, Kohler, Cowtan & Taut… the list goes on ) with magazine editors, fellow decorators and low-ly lovers of design like myself ( I just adore his book ‘Elements of Style’ and can’t wait to get a hold of his latest “Houses’) all equally singing his praises.
Can’t wait to find out what the color schemes will be…but if it’s anything like this amazing house he designed for some lucky Malibu dwellers I say the Obamas are in for a visual paradise! Will post the minute I hear any word on his color directions!
