Last June I spent the day at Seven Oaks Lavender Farm with my mom and my sister. We walked the fields and learned how to make these beautiful lavender wands from a delightful Dutch woman that had grown up spending her summers in Provence.
As she taught us to weave the lavender and ribbon into a scented fob she recounted stories about her time in France. Ever since that enjoyable day I have had a desire to spend time this June or July visiting the vast fields of lavender in Provence.
Over the winter I flipped through my books about Provence, perused a few of my favorite travel sites, and dreamed of having little to do but experience the many hues of purple and breathe in the lavender perfume.
One of my favorite sites Real Provence captures the feeling beautifully:
Imagine fields of bright purple and delicate mauve under a deep blue sky, take a deep breath and experience the true scent and colour of Provence. The stunning sight of the Plateau de Sault or the Plateau de Valensole in mid July, the two main areas of lavender cultivation in our part of Provence, are reason enough alone to visit this beautiful part of France.
Another of my favorite site’s name says it all and offers vacation options to match – Slow France. Could anything seem more appealing than lingering in the French countryside?
Oh I so want to be living the dream but when my bursting calender and lean wallet got together they gave me an answer loud and clear, “Sorry, not this summer”
While I have several tickets waiting to jet me off in different directions none of them say Destination Color: Provence. So since my passport won’t be getting stamped in France this summer I decided to take a dream vacation of a different sort.

Hi and greetings from Perth Australia
I love the lavender wands. I have just set up a lavender blog and I am learning heaps from lavender lovers all over the globe.
Do you have instructions on how to make those colourful lavender wands? I have seen them before but never in so many beautiful colours.
Aren't lavender lovers such nice people. I am enjoying meeting them thru my blog, on Twitter and at different lavender sites I am discovering as I surf the net.
Blessings
Patricia Perth Australia
