Seems like only yesterday the red ones were bad for you: A recent scientific study is linking Brilliant Blue G- the dye used in making blue M&Ms and blue Gatorade- as a possible cure for spinal injuries. In a study done on rats with broken spines, those given the dye as an intravenous drug amazingly regained their ability to walk ( with a limp). The only downside- the rat’s skin actually turned blue! Bizarre, but still incredibly exciting.

If only you could remote control the white on your walls: Many say the perfect white is the hardest color to come by for your walls, but as far as lightening goes- well, you had your choice between soft and bright with a dimmer switch being your best hope to creating the perfect ambiance. So if you are light sensitive like me ( I swear fluorescent light actually put me in a bad mood) you will be thrilled to learn about the newest product from Sharp. Introduced in Japan this month, Sharp’s DL-L60AV LED bulb comes with a controller that not only allows you to not only dim the bulb by remote, but choose from 7 different possible white lights ( ranging from cool to warm) as well. And with a 40,000 hour life span- not only will your rooms now perfectly glow- they will be eco-friendly to boot.

Dr. Zhivago fans rejoice! The western world’s fascination with Russian style and color is a love affair that has survived the test of time. From Yves St. Laurent in the 1970’s to Karl Lagerfeld’s latest collection for Chanel…channeling your inner Russian princess is always appropriate for cooler weather. A new book chronicling the country’s unique style is sure to drive the trend….I’m just hoping it’s not also a predictor of the upcoming winter weather here in NY. The UK Telegraph takes a look at the Russian Revolution for Fall fashion.

I’m a sucker for great packaging..throw in some dry humor and let’s just say this company had me at ‘hello’: Help Remedies is a new American company that believes everyone needs a little honest help with their health from time to time. With simple packaging ( almost completely biodegradable) and ingredients ( they claim to leave ‘the bad stuff’ out) their clean approach and color coded medicines are sure to be a hit with design junkies. Their website is brillantly funny! Click on their ‘help, I want to try ‘help I have a headache’ but I don’t have a headache’ button…and then go over to their ‘help I’m bored’ section…chances are you’ll laugh so hard you’ll forget all about your ailments!

Another great round up of color. Love the Russian style and Sharp bulbs. The Help Remedies is great fun and they share my sense of humor too and who doesn’t love blue m&ms.
