Yellow is a color that often finds favor with women for Spring dresses but this year yellow has been the ‘it’ color and the lemony lusciousness isn’t limited to dresses or even to women for that matter.
Men are wearing yellow! Yellow nail polish is finding its way to the mainstream. And yellow accessories are popping up more places than daffodils.
Should I have been surprised to see yellow enjoying its day in the sun so to speak at the New York Tabletop Show? (more…)

The lichen’s beauty is in the many different colors it can exhibit from rock to rock.
“When you take photos the lichen almost looks like flowers,” Dininger said. “The lichen pulls different minerals out of the rock and that is how they get their color, pink, lavender, orange, yellow, green and even black,” she said. “It’s a very cool phenomena and after it rains the lichen look brilliant.”
Vasquez Rocks is a wildlife sanctuary and all natural and cultural features are protected by law. There is no wood or rock

A soft yellow can quietly replace white or off-white walls in most decorating schemes and the addition of this sunny hue immediately creates warmth and ambiance in a room that may previously have lacked personality.
In cozy shades of straw, butter, and light gold, yellow blends easily with this season’s smoky grays, sensual browns, and blue ocean hues.
Yellow gets glowing reviews:
“This is about using colour in a young, contemporary, urban way - it’s easily achievable, not relying on accessorizing with expensive pieces, instead it’s simply about making the most of space and light.” -Oria Kiely, textile and fashion designer commenting on the Light Fantastic
“Straws Golden Moment…plucked from nature, this mellow yellow is a versatile neutral with a sunny disposition.” -Metropolitan Home magazine
“Be on the watch… in 2006, Yellow will be stealing the spotlight from the brown palette. Yellows with a buttery flavor are finding broad acceptance in traditional and American Country trends.” -Mannington
“In the last three years, yellow definitely has come back into play. That’s going to be a continuing phenomenon because it came about because of Retro. A lot of people associate yellow with mama’s or grandma’s kitchen. Also, from the psychological standpoint, yellow is always associated with sunlight, good cheer and a friendly atmosphere.” -Leatrice Eiseman, internationally renowned color and design expert
“Today’s colour gurus are plumping for a more gentle, youthful, mellow yellow. Now, creamy yellows shimmer. Ochre yellows exude style. Green yellows strike a light, crisp note.” -as seen in the Yellow Go-Go palette from Sico

You enjoy the finer things in life and also have an attraction to art.
If you can help it, you try not to rock the boat. But you also can’t stop yourself from searching for new ideas, methods or styles.
Why not find out what color you are? True Value Color Quiz
Leave a note about your results in the comments. I’d enjoy knowing if you felt they were as true for you as they were for me.

Our reaction to color is almost instantaneous and has a profound impact on the choices we make everyday.
Below is a quick look at general responses to colors based on research, historical significance of color, and word association studies. Different cultures react to colors differently, and this brief overview focuses on the responses of people in the Western Hemisphere.
Red has more personal associations than any other color. Recognized as a stimulant red is inherently exciting and the amount of red is directly related to the level of energy perceived. Red draws attention and a keen use of red as an accent can immediately focus attention on a particular element.
