With only an hour to browse before catching a cab to the airport I didn’t have much time for snapping pictures and matching colors but I did see a couple of rooms at Redford House that I wanted to share.
Both rooms had neutral furnishings, floors and accessories with a bold color on the walls. The bedroom was a blend of warm brown, tans and gray. Everything was a sophisticated blend of neutrals which were beautifully at home surrounded by a mid-tone blue.

As I was headed towards the exit on the back side of my hotel this morning I couldn’t help but find my way into Starbuck’s for a jolt of caffeine and color.
I quickly snapped a few pictures and matched the colors on the wall before running off to catch the shuttle to the World Market. (more…)

I could sit for hours inside the US Botanical Garden and just inhale the beauty and magnificence nature affords us. Last weekend I headed over but before I even made my way inside the landscaping at the entrance stopped me in my tracks. It was so simple yet captivating.
The entire garden was brimming with flowers and foliage in green and purple. The greens ranged from a dark, muted green gray to a vibrant yellow green. The purples were in the range from

The Grand Dame of using bright, bold color and texture combinations in her day, Dorothy Draper has been credited with being the first to ‘design’ a room using an artisitc vision rather than simply recreating historical “period room” styles.
She used vibrant, “splashy” colors in never-before-seen combinations and one of her favorite combinations was “dull” white and “shiny” black. (more…)
