Swimming back to the future

The two thing that worry me the most about the upcoming summer season are (1.) not applying enough SPF and (2.) not applying enough bathing suit ( as the hundreds of hours I have logged on my computer this winter have left my waist feeling a little less than “whittled”)

Lucky for me, according to the New York Times Fashion & Style page, the sun appears to be in RETROgrade - as the trendiest styles and colors for suits this year are a colorful blast from the past. Higher boy-cut bikini bottoms, halter styled tops, ruched one pieces- suits that will have you channeling your inner-pinup girl while embracing your outer curves!

A current Jantzen ad featuring their most popular style today, “The Vamp”, in a color the New York Times Style section calls Lifeguard red

And since no pinup girl is complete without her well manicured tips and toes ( and hair and complete makeup for that manner)- OPI’s new summer “Retro Fun in the Sun” shades seems to be spot on with this trend. Just to make sure you stay in true ‘Beach Blanket Bingo” fashion- each bottle comes equipped with it’s own ponytail holder.

Jantzen’s website offers an awesome look at the company’s styles of yesteryear- flip through their fashion time-line for fun inspiration photos- how cute are those red sandals!

I’m loving this look- especially the little green number from Le Truc!   SensationalColor.com

I love the Jantzen swimsuit especially in lifeguard red! Now if only I could have a retro body to slide into it but I think it would flatter even my current figure.

I LOVE the retro look and have been waiting ten years for this style! Very elegant AND sexy. Many more women (like me) can now feel confident in a swimsuit. You don’t have to be thin to wear these styles - unlike the body-baring bikinis that only seem to look sensational on the models. I also love the new colors and retro patterns. I really think that even if I was still in my twenties (which I’m not….sigh…) I would still love this retro style. Okay, excuse me while I push the piles of clean laundry off my long-dormant treadmill and finally start exercising… : )

i am so happy this style is back–but where in gods name can i buy these suits! i looked everywhere for the le truc suit (its from a mysterious store called “breeze” in brooklyn) to no avail! help!

  4. Julie Hoylen Says:

Why don’t you try sending them an email ( I will as well ) to: info@letrucswim.com. I did notice the line is carried on both Neiman Marcus’s and Bergdorf’s online stores. Let me know if you have any luck, and I’ll post any info when I hear back from the company.
