I’m back in NY but thinking of my lovely week in St. Augustine, Florida . My best friend treated me to a shared birthday trip with her family and a friend, where we rented a condo.

Would Dorothy’s shoes have been as powerful if they were lemon yellow? I think not.

The connection between color and fragrance is deeply ingrained and I pay close attention to how well these two elements align in the products I look at.

With only an hour to browse before catching a cab to the airport I didn’t have much time for snapping pictures and matching colors but I did see a couple of rooms at Redford House that I wanted to share.
Both rooms had neutral furnishings, floors and accessories with a bold color on the walls. The bedroom was a blend of warm brown, tans and gray. Everything was a sophisticated blend of neutrals which were beautifully at home surrounded by a mid-tone blue.

As I was headed towards the exit on the back side of my hotel this morning I couldn’t help but find my way into Starbuck’s for a jolt of caffeine and color.
I quickly snapped a few pictures and matched the colors on the wall before running off to catch the shuttle to the World Market. (more…)
