Anything with a horse on it reminds me of the book”Misty of Chincoteague”. I loved this story so much as a child because my grandmother grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, near Chincoteague. And what little girl doesn’t dream of riding and owning a horse or pony.

Now thinking of fish, without a doubt, brings us to the pages of “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish “by Dr. Seuss. (And of tropical vacations- near some turquoise water.)

Alexander McQueen’s fish dress is the perfect outfit for your first welcome party at any resort. Strap on Bruno Frisoni’s fish print platforms and join the conga line. Or hit the casino in Jean Paul Gautier’s fish print halter paired with Michael Kors fish sandals.

Feeling irie? Lounge around the pool on a Hermes seahorse beach towel in this Tory Burch sequined fish skirt and a simple wife beater (white tank).

Need a little bling by the beach. Roberto Coin’s “Tiny Treasures” diamond pave fish necklace is sure to sparkle. You’ll be the only one who sees the hidden ruby on the back of all his necklaces. Or wave your hand for the cabana boy with Elizabeth Cole’s “kissing fish’ bracelet. It’s pina colada time, all the time, in the islands.

I can’t think of a book for flamingos, so I’m going to mention one of my all time fave movies “The Flamingo Kid”. This is a saucy tale of a Long Island beach resort The Flamingo” starring Matt Dillon. Girls, take a minute to remember how cute he and the costumes are.

Relive the memories in Zimmerman’s painted flamingo trapeze dress. For a casual look, Sonia Rykiel‘s flamingo tank would pair so well with a white linen skirt. When I think of birds, tow books come to mind. The 1^st is Poe’s “The Raven” written while he lived in Richmond, Va. I have a feeling that Poe and Hitchcock would be great admirers of each others work. On the lighter side is “To Kill a Mockingbird”. The title doesn’t suggest a light literary romp, but I must advocate an annual reading of this, my favorite ever book. Thank you Harper Lee. David Aubrey’s quartz necklace is a sweet token afternoons spent in an aviary
