This season designers have embraced animal prints in a new and fresh manner. Instead of the typical leopard spots and tiger stripes, look forward to a new animal profile.

Many different animals are making their way to our closets this season reminding me of my favorite children’s books, along the way.
I find inspiration in “The Wind in the Willows” with Marc Jacobs’ Rana pouch in fun spring colors. It’s a leather pouch with a beautiful frog embellishment on the front. Hable Construction’s felt appliqué pillows have a friendly frog hopping its way onto your couch.

Blue’s white cat tank dress and t-shirt is a screen-printed delight. Marc Jacobs’s mouse flats are the perfect shoe for lounging around the garden. And loosen Farragamo’s dachshund tie and relax. Spring is the perfect time to relax; let the hardworking hen in “Little Red Hen” do all the work.

Lions, tigers, and bears…Oh My! These animals always remind me of my favorite book (and movie) “The Wizard of Oz.” Karen Zambos’ vintage couture lion sleeveless shift dress requires some courage to wear – your arms and legs better be toned. But Ferragamo’s lion print scarf is definitely “king of the forest”.

Kenneth Jay Lane’s hair calf clutch, with tiger handles, is far less scary than a Siegfried and Roy show. You could certainly blind a tiger with this flashy Adrienne tiger face watch.

Since reading Dr. Seuss’ “On Beyond Zebra”, zebras make me giggle. What a genius plan – a striped horse. Kenneth Jay Lane’s zebra ring is certainly not understated, but it’s like having a little friend riding on your finger. Very convenient for those needed tête-à-têtes. I simply love the Tibi zebra shift dress and Torn tank. This is not your mother’s zebra print.

“Whose Garden Is It” features both a butterfly and a bee as some of its characters. This Dior bee necklace is a great way to flaunt your fashion, without getting stung.
I recently saw this Matthew Williamson silk butterfly dress on a woman at a museum party. She practically glided in it – very chic. Alice + Olivia have a beautiful black and white dress and Andrew Gn‘s silk poncho would be a great way to celebrate a metamorphosis. Not into flighty silks? Then tote around either Bottega Venetta’s beautiful neutral leather bag or Renaud Pellegrino’s colorful straw bag.

To be continued…I’m on my way to a safari.

I just love how you used the children's books as inspiration.
I really like the zebra dress with the flat sandals. It would be such a fun look for summer.
