This morning I thought it might be fun to try out some of House Beautiful’s suggestions on ways to discover: What’s Your Color Personality? as are featured in their current ( and wonderful) Issue.

I figured a little colorful feng shui, chromotherapy and colorastrology could be just the ticket to jump starting my self-professed Autumn renewal plan.
First thing was first. Before I could fully understand how color could help me, I would need to discover who I am right now- at this very colorful minute in time. So taking HB’s suggestion I clicked over to ColorQuiz.com- to partake in their speedy little 5 minute test.

What I thought was to be a fun, light synopsis based on a few random color choices turned out to be a stream of results that literally left me staring at my screen, holding my morning coffee- utterly speechless.

a pretty good depiction of me before the results- source
The analysis-a no holds barre look at not just what’s good about me but what is wrong with me as well. (I guess I should have figured by there pre-quiz disclaimer that ‘they are not providing therapy- that you should seek a professional for that’,that this in fact might get deeper than I was prepared for this morning)
Two quick rounds of color choices and I had it all in front of me…in not so colorful gray, black and white:
1. Your Existing Situation- Pretty right on. A few things I will admit to- a few I won’t (at least publicly). But basically I would have to say yes, they are on the right track.
2. Your Stress Sources-Gulp! OK, this is weird. I looked around nervously…how do they know that? Has ColorQuiz.com been reading my emails, listening in on my Skype- bugged my house. Paranoia sets in.
3. Your Restrained Personality- Uhm..this is basically everything I have ever feared. You know how we are taught to ignore those little voices in our heads that secretly whisper negative quips inside our brains…well, apparently my little demons got a hold of a keyboard- because I’m staring at a well edited, written out list of them before my very eyes. I think I just shrunk an inch…
4. Your Desired Objective- Okay, at least my intentions are good. ColorQuiz finally throws me a bone:
“Highly optimistic and outgoing personality. Loves to learn new and exciting things, and craves new interests. Looking for a well-rounded life full of success and new experiences. Does not allow herself to be overcome with negative thoughts or self-doubt. Takes life head on, with enthusiasm.”
That’s right. In your face #3.
5. Your Actually Problem- “Fights resistance or limitations, and insists she is free to develop in her own way. Rewarded by accomplishing things on her own, with little to no help from others.” Is this a problem? I’m feeling a little ‘ I am woman hear me roar’ right about now.
6. Your Actually Problem #2- I should have known better-but of course there’s a flip side! Gi-normous Gulp!!!..
I knew I shouldn’t have picked that color third! Jack Nicolson’s voice is now in my head saying ‘the truth? YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH!’…OH,NO! it’s all true and way worse then I could have ever thought…could this just be an inner colorful cry for help? Do I need Feng Shui or Sigmund Freud?
I will now step away from the computer and spend the rest of the day quietly searching for a pair of rose colored sunglasses.
Okay, Is it just me? Take the quiz and let me know your results- I think I’m feeling a colorful support group coming on.

Only half the quiz was somewhat accurate. Some answers were actually very far from reality. I was a bit disapointed.
I have to disagree with Elise, my results were a little too spot-on. After taking the first part of the test and then waiting for the second part, I thought this is just fluffy and funny, but got to say it was “very interesting”.
I’m re- taking the test…in hopes of a happier outcome! I’ll let you both know.
Are you saying I did this entire post about colour personality, tagged a bunch of people and missed the analysis part of it? Boy do I feel like a dork
