Martha’s wedding colors Spring 2009

I couldn’t help but notice the tag line on the latest issue of Martha Stewart Weddings was ‘In Love with Color’… I always knew Martha and I had something in common!

Here’s a quick glance at the color schemes Martha and her staff are predicting will help your big day be ‘a good thing’ come Spring.

Blush and Shocking Pink

Citron and Gold

Washed Coral and Vibrant Apricot

Seafoam and Peacock

Oyster Gray and Smokey Lavender

Hey isn’t that the dress that Olivia Wilde wore to the Golden Globes last week?

Yikes! Beautiful color but who should be more embarrassed?  Olivia’s stylist or Martha for suggesting a $5900 bridesmaid dress?

I agree, I guess it's because most people in the west associate a bride in color as meaning that she has been down the aisle once before. I find that it's amazing how much our cultural upbringing is installed in us when we choose color..... I myself had chosen a golden yellow vintage gown to wear on my wedding day and then at the last minute realized that this was to be my only time ever to wear the fantasy wedding white!!! After all isn't that supposed to be every little girls dream ( even if truly it wasn't mine).

So I made a quick, switch to an off white ensemble (2 pieces, not a gown, felt I had to at least put my personal stamp on tradition) and called it a day. I liked what I wore but quite honestly I really to this day wish I had worn the yellow instead!

I wish the U.S. would adopt the Chinese custom of colorful dresses for the bride herself - not just the maids of honor.

In China, vivid pinks, reds and golds give a lively, Valentine's type feel to everything from gowns to invitations. These cheerful colors have been more appealing to me than plain white or cream.

Thanks Maria! Love your site!

Lovely post, I like the colours you picked to coordinate with the dresses.

Very funny.... after I posted I realized a gorgeous beaded dress suggested in the same color theme ( not pictured above ) has a price tag of $12,000... so I guess the smokey lavender bridesmaid is getting off easy! This really is a fantasy wedding.

Yikes $5900 for a bridesmaid dress! What was Martha thinking?

Maybe she thought it made sense because of course, "You can always cut if off and wear it again"....but then again I bet all 39 Dresses put together didn't costs $5900.
