Let’s Colour The World: A Deluxe idea from Dulux Paints

Can color change the world?  Uplift a neighborhood, bring a community together?  Unite us as humans, regardless of language, culture and location?  Dulux paints has embarked on a worldwide colorful mission to prove that -YES, IT TRULY CAN!
Starting earlier this month in Rio, today in Paris (I know this because I am following their live feed on Twitter: @Lets_Colour) and then moving on to London next- the Let’s Colour crew is armed with not just bucket loads of paint, but gallons of colorful spirit as well!!!!
Here’s a snipet of background info (fyi- in the USA Dulux is Glidden Professional

“Dulux understands colour’s uplifting effect; how it can re-invent the familiar and fill rooms with shades of calm, vitality and happiness. It is passionate about using colour to inspire and help people to unlock the potential in their homes and social spaces. This passion has lead the brand to work with individual communities such as the Wuhan art project in China, All Colour To Sao Paulo events in Brazil and the ongoing support of the Community Re-Paint charity in the UK. Together through the simple act of painting Coral and the individual communities have injected colour, turned old into new, forgotten into colourful.”

“This year Dulux will initiate Let’s Colour projects around the world, so that even more people can experience the positive impact of paint and colour. Let’s Colour will begin in Rio, Paris, London and Rajasthan, before reaching other communities in cities such as Istanbul and Shanghai. For each project, Dulux will connect with local communities to paint spaces that need a little colour and experts in design to ensure they reach their potential. “

You can follow along on their color adventure—Social Media is an amazing thing indeed! (Fan the project on Facebook or follow their blog–they are posting lots of local color insights as they go, I feel as if I’m on a color journey right along with them) I’ve been keeping up with the crew for the past 48 hours as they arrived in Paris and taken on giving this car park (that’s garage for us Yanks) a rainbow of a makeover:

I think this is such an amazing undertaking! Award-winning filmmaker Andrew Lang is with the team.  Here’s his first film from Rio featuring some colorful local artists and an interview with a grandmother whose own home’s colorful makeover is a joy to witness…

i am looking for someone to contact me or the committee of the clara tidy towns to help us from delux to come and brighten up our dull little town please help

It's Rebecca from the Let's Colour Project.

Tonight we launched the 2 minute director's cut of the film 'Dulux Walls'. Very exciting!

You can watch it here: http://www.letscolourproject.com/blog/2010/05/dulu...

Shot by director Adam Berg over four weeks in Brazil, France, London and India. Every location is real and they remain transformed by a palette consisting of 120 different colours. The people in the film are not actors, they are real people who rolled up their sleeves to transform their community with colour.

I hope you enjoy it and would love if you could help us in spreading more colour with the world :)

Thank you!

Rebecca

What a great idea....colour really does make a difference to how people feel about their surroundings. Dulux, you are welcome to come and spread your magic in Canberra :)

Donna- love your color story, color to combat the gray Northeast winters-oh how I can relate... have to check out that color it sounds so cozy...

And Linda, yes please do fan them, it really is fun to follow along and I totally agree-- the car park will be a breath of colorful fresh air to everyone in that hood, for sure!

Color can fill you with joy. That car park is going to put smiles on people's faces. I'm going to fan them so I can get a dose of color-happiness, too!

When I lived in Pittsburgh I painted my living room "Gold Buff" by Behr and it was amazing how great my family and I felt when we sat in that room. Pittsburgh didn't have many sunny days and there were even fewer days with bright blue skies. The grayness day after day was very depressing. When it came to repainting this room, I thought long and hard about my color choices. It had to be a "feel good" color plus it had to match my ugly aqua sofa. Long story short, Gold Buff was the answer! We found ourselves just hanging out in this room and talking, reading, working on puzzles anything at all just to be in this room - the room without a TV no less!

So yes! Let's color the world and start making it feel good! Changing the way we feel by something as simple as color. It sounds good to me!
