Jenna Lyon’s chalkboard paint

This month Domino magazine profiles J.Crew’s creative director Jenna Lyons in her Park Slope Brooklyn brownstone.  If the architectural details of the townhouse and it’s furnishings aren’t enough to make you drool- check out the creative direction she took with her walls.  To achieve the matte black walls that she craved she simply turned to good old chalkboard paint-

‘Charcoal walls- not the bathtub in the bedroom that surprises vistors the most. There’s a certain drama in something unexpected and an air of formality because it’s dark.  But there is a certain ease you don’t usually find,’ she tells the magazine.

I love that she even painted the moldings with the chalkboard paint. it really makes the whites and colors of her thread bare rug ‘pop’.

Benjamin Moore Studio Finish Chalkboard paint $14.95 qt.

The sound of Chalkboard paint doesn't seem to appealing at first, but by what I see in the photographs, it's really quite nice. It adds a kind of dramatic flare to the room and makes it seem more intimate, almost avant-garde look.
