Thanks for reading the blog Patricia !

Please go to Iceland...it's unlike other European city. (Also, the most expensive city). It's great to see culture and nature residing so closely together. And you have to experience the hot baths and yummy food. Really.
FYI - the great green tiles are in the doorway of the place to get the best lamb sandwich in all of Reykjavik !

I think Icelanders dress so colorfully because it's a youthful and artsy culture. Bright colors and neon are also on their way in , as a trend. But, the dull weather is a huge influence, based on what the girls in the photos told me. Icelanders dress in colors all year round; Americans generally wear bright colors in spring and summer.

Take London and NYC - in winter, the majority of women dress in black and greys. (I consider these cities young and artsy, as well) However, I never saw one woman in Iceland in an all black outfit (with black shoes, and a black bag / coat.)

My next post is about what I do to escape a dull, grey Sunday afternoon. Please keep reading.

I never thought I would be interested in going to Iceland, but you may have changed my mind. Loved the pictures of the tile work and the sunset.

The outfits that the kids were wearing are quite a "trip" (in keeping with the eighties). Did you think it was simply a form of self expression or was it in response to the grey, foggy weather?

Thanks for the replies !

To Liberty Post editor: Wow you have amazing photos on your site. Really enjoyed it. I'm sure that's true about Canada although I'm sure it's not a surprise right now. Quite snowy and cold? Glad you had a laugh - always a pleasure to spread joy!

To Julie: I have been wearing brighter colors. I just went on a
holiday sale shopping spree and bought jewel colored tops and a pair of wild geometric leggings. It's amazing what a little color will do for you. I feel 10 years younger by wearing
these new bright colors. Girls at work even noticed a spring in my step. I think a new flippy hair do might be in order. Thanks for the spiritual lift Iceland.

I love this article! It will forever change how I look at color when I travel to a new place. Just wandering...were you inspired to wear brighter colors once you returned to NYC?
