We love color trends. We especially love when a color trend is spotted in many places at once… this would be the case of red tights.
Allegra Hicks pairs red tights with a purple, plum and pink dress
Seen on so many different runways during the Fall 2008 collections, it makes one wonder do designers simply call each other and say- “hey let’s all dress our models in red tights“…. or is there simply a synergy of inspiration within the fashion world that places these talents on the same color page. I did a little investigating and here are a few possible inspirational sources…
Could she be the muse? Anna Karina in Jean Luc Godard’s ” A women is a women”(1961) playfully wore mod red fishnets
Colored tights were back in a big way on the Fall 2007 runways, but while most designers were going with black, gray, blue and purple and brown- Moschino’s Chic & Cheap label caught a lot of attention with their fire engine red tights… could they be the spark that began the red tights revolution?
A photo spread from Italian Vogue Fall 2007 pairs bright red tights with red open toed high heels…. could it’s stylist be to blame?
Or better yet…. is the hit show Gossip Girl’s trendy wardrobe inspiring fans and designers alike?
Whatever the inspiration- one thing is for sure- edgy and unexpected, red tights will be red hot come Fall.

This may not be a fashion trend I wear but it is curious how so many designers used this same element on their runways. It is sometimes difficult to say how this convergence comes about but I like the sources of inspiration you uncovered.
