In this month’s issue of In Style Alicia Keys’ almond shaped eyes are accentuated with a bright peacock green. She looks amazing. When I saw it, I said to myself - “YES!”

I have been noticing bold colored makeup popping up hither and tither. When I read Julie’s blog post on ‘The beauty of brights’, I knew it was true and here to stay. With so many great color choices being offered this is my equivalent of being a ‘kid in a candy store.’

I am a huge fan of individual style. I strongly believe makeup, second only to jewelry, has the greatest ability to create a personal style. If you like to be noticed, or have wanted to be more daring - now is your chance. Experiment with the wonderful bright colors and create a look truly your own.

What will your “signature” look be for Spring?

It is safe to say that a “signature” look for me is a “played up” eye. Since I was a little girl I have had a love affair with eye makeup. I’m fascinated by the wild designs of the 60’s and 70’s. Peggy Moffitt’s eyes were little masterpieces.

Mascara is my favorite. It is an essential for me, without it I don’t feel dressed. Try putting mascara on just one eye, then ask “mirror mirror on the wall, which eye looks best of all?”

I am looking forward to trying the new colored mascaras. YSL has one in “petrol blue” that I have my “eye” on. Very curious about the Vincent Longo hues Julie showcased. Maybe a different shade for top and bottom would be interesting?

I’ve had so much fun with wild makeup creations. Using artist’s paint brushes for eye makeup works wonderfully. Wetting the brush gives a great application. Here is one of my over the top looks for a party at the Baltimore Museum of Art (many years ago.)

This fun picture is of “color maven” Julie wearing one of her signature looks - a bright red smile.

I have been playing it safe for a while wearing my tried and true because it is comfortable. Now that striking color is “au courant”, it reminds me to get back in the groove. I won’t be bringing back the butterfly eyes but, mark my words - “I’m going to make bright orange eye liner work for me!” Even if it doesn’t look great, at least I will be in style!   SensationalColor.com
