That picture of the Amish couple juxtaposed with the one of Brangelina is hilarious - the clothes and expressions are just . . .

Your assessments of the colors, both dresses and makeup, is spot on. Even though Evan Rachel looks older than her 22 years I love that she used the purple with her peacock dress. And Kate Winslet looks amazing in that shade of blue.

Thanks ladies for your great comments. Kate the picture of the Amish couple knocked me off my chair! It's so funny but her blue dress really is that same color as ( I believe ) unmarried Amish girl's dress- hum, coincidence or is she flaunting the fact that she's an unwed mother of 6 by choice? Okay, perhaps I'm taking it a little too deep.

Yes, I also read yesterday that her Max Azria dress was indeed being worn backwards. The dress is way more interesting worn the right way but- boy, can you image if she had? Let's just say the model wearing it the right way on the runway was not quite as 'blessed' as Ms. Jolie!

And at least her dress wasn't an immediate 'oh my god, is that on backwards?!- remember the Celine Dion backwards white tuxedo circa late 90's? That backwards debacle still leaves me scratching my head. In some ways it makes you like Angelina a little....I'm guessing she actually bought this dress as I'm pretty sure a designer sending over a dress for free would be less than pleased with it being worn the wrong direction.

And to my lovely friend from "Things That Inspire"- hurray, Red Heads unite!!!! We are both mom's to redheaded, brown eyed little beauties!!!!! And being a redhead with brown eyes myself I agree that it is by no means possible to group all redheads into one color category... which I believe most people do.

Just as a blue eyed brown haired girl would wear a color differently than a brunette with dark eyes, so do use reds! If I wore a similar colored dress as Amy Adams- yes it would be flattering with my hair but in no way would it make my eyes sparkle the way it does playing off the color blue!

I think this was the inspiration.

All they need to add is the black hat and white bonnet and we'd have the world's most attractive Amish couple.

I love the peacock gown on Evan Rachel and the gorgeous eggplant on Amy Adams!<br />

I thoroughly enjoyed this post! I thought that your observation about Amy Adams was excellent - what looks good on a brown eyed redhead is very different than what looks good on a blue eyed redhead. As a blue/green eyed redhead myself, I have always had to be very careful about color, but my brown eyed redhead daughter looks so different in the colors that are dreadful on me!

And, just so you know, when I did 'Color Me Beautiful' in the early 90s, that shade of rich purple was rated my #1 color! Whenever I wear it, I get loads of compliments. I am thrilled that it is in style this season, because a rich purple is not always in style.
