The Golden Globes are my favorite of all of the award shows because 1. everyone seems to be having way more fun then they do at the Emmy’s or the Oscars ( rumors has it the champagne never stops flowing) and 2. the colors and styles of the star’s fashions are usually way more playful.
Well this year did not disappoint. There were plenty of lovely ladies in colors ranging from ‘on trend’- pale neutrals, blues to traditional ( black and metallic), to ‘I’m my own person so live it’ ( Cameron’s hot pink, Christina’s golden yellow and Frida’s saffron) to choose from. Here’s a few of my faves.
Drew Barrymore will surely get a lot of heat for this over-the-top, bed-head teased out bob which looked something like Jessica Lange meets Angie Dickinson circa 1970- but she wore my favorite standout color of the evening, a grayish- blue dress, custom made for her by non other than John Galliano for Dior.
I especially love, LOVE this color combined with the deep red hue of her satin clutch! In fact it really was the little ‘extra pops of color’ that really made somes ensembles really stand out from the crowd.
There’s no denying that Eva Mendes could show up in a potato sack and still look fabulous…but her choice of this chunky, turquoise necklace combined with pale pink lips and her caramel toned skin and hair knocked this retro-inspired white gown out of the park.
Sandra Bollock also relied on a splash of this bright blue gem to liven up her equally pale one shoulder dress.
Jenna Fischer, who was one of my favorites of the night simply for being daring enough to wear a print, also wore turquoise- this time combined with bright red and a neutral backdrop and looked right on trend for spring!
Speaking of up and coming trends- Demi Moore’s blush colored gown is a good example off the soft, earthy neutrals that are sure to be all of the rage come Spring. In colors ranging from nude, pale pink, silvery grays and chalky whites…. so it’s no surprise that a full force of stars made their way down the red carpet in a range of soft, slightly complex colors.
This is a great color for Demi… I don’t think she’s ever looked this soft and naturally pretty. What do you think?
Other nude-ies included Vanessa Hudgins, Liz Banks, Isla Fisher and Penelope Cruz
Angelina’s color du jour must be soft, shimmery gray ( which she also wore to Friday’s night Critic’s Choice Awards ) I wonder if it’s a coincidence or if she gets obsessed with particular colors as well?
Other gray gardeners- Amanda Seyfried, America Ferrera and Brooke Burke
Deep dark blues and purples were another favorite evening hue. Anne Hathaway paired her navy gown with bright red lips while Golden Globe Girl Rumer Willis livened up her purple gown with equally bright red hair.
Plum dandy Hayden Panettiere and blue belles Mary Louise Parker and Jennifer Morrison
Super hero hues brightened up the night for Eva and January…
While candy colored hues were super feminine on Olivia, Cameron and Christina.
Classic black was the winning color for the night’s two big winners Kate Winslet and Tina Fey.
And in true diva form Jennifer Lopez took the trend of liqud gold to an all new level of hot!

How odd that they would have an issue with putting dark red with blue/ gray...seems like a classic combo to me!
