This week Kim Kardashian and I have something very big in common. NO NOT THAT!!! It’s that we are both quoted in this weeks issue of Life & Style magazine- Kim’s talking cellulite and I’m talking color.
And sure- Kim gets the cover, the lead story and the ‘untouched’ photo spread- I get something even better… the 2 most colorful pages in the issue and absolutely no ( sigh of relief) ‘untouched’ photo spread.
Lemon, lime, grapefruit and tangerine…citrus colored accessories are for sure to be a favorite color trends for summer 2009
These zesty shades are bright, uplifting, optimistic and practically transport your spirits to some far away and relaxing tropical destination. The perfect colors to wear when you want to visually scream ‘warmer weather -where have you been all my life?!”
I think the magazine did a great job of showcasing some really fun pieces- I am so loving the lemon watch featured in the montage that I have officially placed it on the top of my season ‘wish list’.
One thing to note is that citrus can go both ways- either a little dab will do ya or it can provide a full on fruity ‘statement’ punch.
I love, love these colors paired with neutrals and classic blue and white.
This Chloe bag offers some great clues on how to use a citrus-y shade of orange to update the classic pairings of blue, white and taupe
Here’s the ‘little dab will do ya’ approach…runway looks from Mulberry, Preen and Marc by Marc Jacobs
Really any shade of citrus ( lemon or lime or even a pinkish grapefruit) could be switched out for the orange…but since I love orange so much I think it’s the shade I would wear the most. ( Except for the watch, which I would actually rather have in lemon or lime).
Throw in some flip flops, a beach bag, a pair of white sailor pants and some sunscreen and this is about all you’d ever need to pack for a citrus weekend away!
And for that all over fruity punch look? Well at last night’s Met Costume Institute Ball in NYC, model Paulina Porizkova brought the look to life-
You’re zesty fabulous Paulina!!!!

Nothing like citrus hues to set my mind on summer. I think we all need some lemon or lime zest after a gloomy winter.
