My ‘Cyber Monday’ turned into a frantic Tuesday evening this year as I attempted to quickly complete my holiday card in time to reap the benefits of ‘free shipping’ and bonuses extra cards from Shutterfly.
Normally I forgo their standard pre-designed templates and opt for a plain card and design my own collage of images- but in lieu of a ticking clock I quickly realized my creative endeavors would have to give way to an easier solution this year.
So I clicked through to weigh my options- and was I ever surprised at what I saw. Shutterfly has smartly teamed up with some greeting card big wigs ( Stacy Claire Boyd, Boatman Geller, Egg Press… to name a few ) to create some pretty darn hip holiday cards….. with a refreshing color palette to boot!
It’s so fun to see the trickle down of color trends…. amongst the seasonal red and green ( tweaked versions of course -the red is a little brighter the green a little lighter ) comes varying shades of blue ( a color we know was HUGE in 2008 and will continue to delight home and fashion in 2009 ) and lots and lots of Chocolate Browns- a color that has become so popular in home and design over the past few years that it only seems natural that it would make it’s way into holiday design and decor as well.
And what card did I choose?
Well, this was almost the one…. I love the lace-y pattern ( very trendy ) and how in the example the turquoise blue in the water mimics the ‘a’ in holiday…. but It did not quite go with the photo I hoped to use so…
this is the card i chose, my picture ( no this is not me and my family with parrots on a tropical vacation) has a lot of deep blues, reds and white and I just loved how it played off of the lighter blue, bright red and browns of this design- I think this baby will really stand out and make a nice colorful greeting for my friends and family and hopefully help to usher in a prosperous and healthy New Year for all!
Do you have a cool, colorful card to share? Send it to me and I will post it!

Yes these are very timely colors that have found there way from home and fashion to holiday.
Love the collage of holiday cards and really like the one you chose.
