“butter”-ing up the planet, one bottle at a time

It’s something when a brand says it believes in something… it’s another when they put their money where there mouth is- or in this case where their hands and feet are!

That’s exactly what butter London, the Seattle based cosmetic label is doing. This year in honor of Earth day, the company has partnered with the website BrandHabit.com to offer a special promotion entitled ” Turn in Your Toxins”.

From now until May 15th for every three bottles of regular nail polish turned into participating boutiques, costumers will receive one coupon entitling them to a free online purchase of a bottle of Butter’s own “3- free” nail polish ( the 3-free referring to a polish free of the chemical components: Formaldehyde, Toluene and DBP (Phatalate) ) .

I’ve been reading a lot about this company lately, their polishes are said (at least by some loyal blogging fans ) to outlast the competitors by not just days, but by weeks!

” Color not Carcinogens” - the company’s motto appears on each and every bottle- their website asks ” Do you know what’s in your nail polish? We do.

An interior shot of a butter London shop- I can’t say how much I’m loving that black chandelier!

Wow! A real triple threat- a company attempting to rid the world of nasty chemicals ( I’m intrigued), a polish said to leave my hands and tootsie colorful for weeks at a time ( I’m in love ) and company whose website and store are styled in a manner I find just too cute for words-( let’s just say “they had me at “Hello”!)

All I can say is “out with the old, in with the new”- I’ve got my eye on a free bottle of their “Fash pack” -a color they describe as “putty meets mushroom”, too cool!

Let me know if you participate, too!   SensationalColor.com

    Julie,

I didn’t know about butter before reading your post but I too love their concept, colors and shop. Thanks for such a wonderful find.

I can’t wait to share this when I’m interviewed by Mary Foley on April 29th for her Live LIke Your Nail Color Club monthly call.

    Well done! ~Kate

  2. Myrna Says:

Those nail polishes really sparked me up this morning! Just love looking at the image!

  3. Mary Foley Says:

    Julie,

WOW, what a find! Ever since the hot pink reddish nail polish called “Wild Berry” came into my life I’ve been inspired by my nail color to live full-up on passion and fully alive. And I now inspire other women, too, with my Live Like Your Nail Color Club. But, I’ve become a bit concerned about about what’s in the polish. I can’t wait to check out butter London! Soon, their name may be rolling off my tongue like butta!

    Thanks!
    Mary Foley

  4. Monica Kelly Says:

Julie - I just read about the “dirty dozen” chemicals that appear in our cosmetics over and over. It left me wondering where to turn. I am excited to try Butter London’s 3 Free polish.

Mary Foley - “live like your nail color” is an intriquing and clever concept. I am going to check it out.

  5. Julie Hoylen Says:

Thanks everybody for stopping by and leaving such nice comments! In honor of Earth Day this week, I’ll be writing about some other great companies and products that make going “eco-chic” easier than ever… so check back!

  6. april Says:

Thanks for turning me on to this lovely store….it’s like Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven”. Love their website too. I’m gonna hit Caravan in the city to take them up on their offer for polish. I’ll let you know how it works out !
