Back to school has turned into back to college for my family. The big difference between the two is that when my son was in pre-school through high school the summer was a break from the demands of my student’s schedule and the parental responsibilities that went with it. Unlike my mom who seemed to live for the day, I never really looked forward to my son going back to school and overnight flipping the “on” switch of a more rigid schedule.
It’s different now. With TJ in college I can ease into autumn rather than being abruptly thrown in while fighting to hold on to the lazy days of summer. It also means that I no longer shop for school clothes in August and until this week I hadn’t even given much thought to Fall fashion.

This morning however as I stumbled out of my house at 5:15am to head to yoga there was a chill in the air that reminded me that my sweaters and boots would soon be finding their way back into my wardrobe rotation. I am also now thinking about what new pieces I might want to hunt for over the next few weeks and of course in what colors?
I decided to take another look at a few of the fashion trend reports for inspiration. In the Pantone Fall 2010 Fashion Color Trends report put together by my friend and well-known color expert Leatrice Eiseman I found a few colors that would add just the fresh jolt of color I am craving.

Here are my current color cravings.
One of my personal home and fashion favorites. I never get tired of blue green and even though I already have several pieces this color makes me happy so why not add more?
Until about a year ago pinks and purples only made cameo appearances in my wardrobe. I never really loved wearing these hues but then red-violet entered the scene and stole my heart. I prefer the deep and slightly grayed tones and I wore a cashmere sweater I bought last fall in this color so often I think having something in purple orchid would be a nice change once in a while.
I’ve always loved red and get lots of compliments when I wear but I don’t have a fabulous lipstick red top or sweater currently so now might be a good time to keep my eye’s open for something extraordinary.
My last new hue is absolutely this color. Living Coral is just yummy. In fact I think I just want this dress in this color. Love the bateau neck, 3/4 sleeves and soft drape plus after hitting the yoga mat at 6am I’d like to have something to show off the results.
So that is my Fall fashion color shopping list. What colors will you be adding to your wardrobe this Fall?
