I know, I know- with the first sprouts of crocuses finally popping their sleepy heads out of the cold ground this week, the last thing you probably want to think about is fall fashion. It usually takes just one or two good sunny day in March to get me feeling that first twitch of spring fever, too!
But before we pack away our sweaters neatly into cedar scented storage (because we all take proper care of our out of season clothes, right?) let’s take a world wind peek ahead to the colors and styles that by August everyone will be talking about.
First stop: Paris, France- where the mood was best described by Style.com as “austere opulence“. Apparently the more turmoil there is going on around the world, the more luxurious fashion gets. The austere- the female silhouette becoming more powerful, closer to the body, opulence- lots of fur, rich jewels and unbelievable accessories! (more…)

We’ve already talked about how super bright colors will be lighting up your home and wardrobe this Spring…
Now these electrified shades, in colors with names like psychedelic coral, hot pop blue, Studio 54 and Chrome yellow will be making a splash in your cosmetic bag as well.

Even our favorite stars are looking a little brighter this year: Katherine Heigl took to the Oscar runway in a custom blended super bright coral lips, Avril Levine’s trademark pink streak made it’s way onto the Spring catwalk while who could forget Rhianna flashing a neon orange manicure when she took home her Grammy last month.
So say bye, bye beige and sianara to nudes…. bold neon inspired hues are here! (more…)

February, the month of love, is a great time to add some color to your life. A burst of a new color to your wardrobe or a fresh coat of paint is a great way to brighten up a gray winter day. Even daydreaming about a new spring gardening scheme can shoo away the winter blues.
So let’s take a peek into my mailbox for a little color inspiration that will have even old man winter craving spring.

After writing about the color and styles I spotted at the Oscars on Sunday night, I of course spent most of Monday reading and watching what everyone else was saying about the “big night’s” fashion extravaganza.
Not to be too catty, but like most, I have to admit I’m just as interested in the looks that get “knocked” as I am with the ones that get “raves”.
One particular star whose style seemed to be in question was that of British actress Julie Christie. Ms. Christie, whose amazing good looks ( please beauty gods let me look like her when I’m 66! ) and stylish feminine tuxedo were fan favorites as she picked up the SAG award for Best Actress this past January.
Her Oscar fashion choice on the other hand, a cabernet colored ruched dress, pale pink chiffon long gloves and matching shoes was received with let’s just say- less warmth. (more…)

Leave it to the make-up geniuses at Chanel to create yet another nail polish frenzy. Much like their “Noir” that was sold out everywhere in Fall 2006, they have followed up with “Blue Satin” a shade that is currently in such high demand it may take a bid on Ebay to score a bottle.
I wrote about seeing blue polish on the trend horizon last spring… now it’s the hot color du jour. I asked Kate about this trend and she said, “As we ushered in the new year many hues of blue from sky to navy were already appearing in home and fashion stores everywhere and buyers are scooping up items in this universally appealing color. Blue is also a popular color this year among car buyers, global color authority Pantone named blue their color of 2008 and Yves Klein blue is making a come back internationally. Is it any wonder that the blue nail color trend you saw beginning last Spring has found such a following? ” (more…)

Happy Valentine’s Day!
According to all the self help experts… you must love yourself before you can truly love another…right?
Sounds to me like a great excuse to show yourself the love- treat yourself to a little something special that says “I won’t wear my heart on my sleeve…but I will wear it on my shoes and bags!”
You’ll be stylishly feeling the amore all season long!

I think my brain has finally gone into “fashion overload”. I’m not sure what finally set me over the edge- perhaps the gazillion photos of Spring ready-to- wear images I’ve been looking through recently or maybe it’s my nightly habit of watching hour after hour of Full Frontal Fashion’s coverage of New York’s Fall fashion week. What ever the cause- I’m ready to admit that I’m in need of a couture detox.
Case in point… when I woke up this morning and began researching floral bouquets for a post I was working on for Valentine’s Day I discovered every bouquet I liked had a fashion reference….have I gone completely mad… or do you see it too?

The 2008 Grammys, which was celebrated last night in Los Angeles, was as usual quite a colorful event. After all, the Grammys are the one mega award show you expect to see artist wearing outfits that reflect their attitude and personality and not so much the latest runway trend.
While some stars came through, a.k.a Cher, Amy Winehouse, Cyndi Lauper, Prince to name a few- all whose “head scratching” ensembles could only have been chosen and worn by no other one but themselves- the majority of others took a surprisingly more conservative path. (more…)

There are still 2 days left of the Fall 2008 New York fashion week and normally I like to wait till the last catwalk closes before I start writing about the color and style trends for the upcoming season.
But the fact is I’ve spied my favorite color on so many runways already that I’m selfishly prepared to jump the gun a little this time around and joyfully exclaim, “All Orange lovers rejoice! Come next Fall, all shades of this energetic hue from citrus to pomegranate to pumpkin to blood orange and all the juicy shades in between are sure to be in style.
