Okay, I know I should be summing up the colors worn at last nights Oscars… yes, yes- white/cream seemed to be the color of the evening…retro gowns, asymmetrical cuts, lots of chunky bling ruled the red carpet etc….
But truthfully for me, the most exciting color event of the night was not the fact that Sarah Jessica wore green, Kate gray or Natalie lilac… it was that Angelina wore black and Jennifer wore white!
In total Hollywood fashion- ( this is after all the place were the genre of good guys wear white hats and bad guys wear black was born)- the two starlets made their first ever appearance in the same venue at the same time-nothing short of dramatic.
It was almost a scene out of a fairy tale… after all the other ball gown clad maidens had made their way into the theater…
POW! Angelina appears- almost as if by magic to make her way down the red carpet…
With her slicked up hair. low cut/ high slit Ellie Saab gown and emerald green earrings ( don’t you think they almost look like they could contain some come of radioactive spell inside of them!)… Angie was every bit ‘nemesis’ in disguise…. hum, where have I seen this color combo before?
Oh yeah…now I remember.
But where is Jennifer? She is no where to be found on the red carpet…. did she back out, is she sick… did her evil stepsisters rip up her homemade gown before she made it to the ball?
Alas, she appears as the night is well on its way… a vision in white beaded delight, her flowing tawny locks braided in the front as if she is already wearing the crown..a magical diamond ring worn on her pointer finger in true California cool style.
Jen presented, Angie was politely amused in the audience…Angelina’s name was announced and Jennifer clapped on cue… a few timely split screen shots ( thanks Mr. Academy Awards Director for doing what you know we all wanted to see) and the evening was over without a hitch, without anyone turning into a pumpkin and both beauties returning into the enchanted night on the arm of their prince.
Perhaps now they can all live ‘happily ever after’… no longer ever having to be ‘Pitt’ against each other in public again!

OMG You are a true visionary. I loved Angie’s earrings but I suppose they were supposed to have some kryptonite affect on cute Jen. She was a blond wispy vision in white with rosy cheeks. But Angelina looked dark, tired, and withered. You pointed out the obvious…which I never would have seen. Bravo on another insightful article.
I love your take on the black and white. I burst out laughing with the picture of the wicked witch of the west! Well done….again!
Awesome. You nailed it. EVERYONE compared the two but your metaphor was the best!! I even thought Brad must have had some pang in his stomach when Jen was up there being her fun self with Jack Black, do you think he laughs as much? We can assume all we want but a picture speaks a thousand words and Jen was as pretty as a picture.
