Rejoice! Spring has officially sprung! This time of year always puts me in the mood to re-think, re-fresh and re- evaluate my home and wardrobe. The world outside is coming to life in fuller, brighter colors- and I want to do the same!
Nothing inspires me more than my favorite mags… let’s take a look at see what great ideas we can find.

I have often heard people say that they wear only one color (usually talking about black) and as much as I love color I have had those moments when I wonder what it would be like to just dress in a single hue.
What would it be like to have a closet full of turquois? Or to own fifty fabulous pairs of shoes all in red? Or to shop and only scan for items in your color?

No need to wonder any longer. The New York Magazine interviews five individuals that have chosen to live in only their signature color.
Curious as to why these creative people live in a single hue? Read the interviews on New York Magazine online…

Hurray! Let the forest nymphs and artsy chicks rejoice… Spring is here!
Lucky for them they are already properly dressed for the celebration. Their style is right on track with my next favorite spring trend.

Prints, prints and more prints- from bold florals to graphic patterns to floaty, fluid garments that appear to have been dipped in or splash by a bath of wild color.
Over the past few seasons we have been seeing florals and stripes creeping back into favor at some of out favorite fashion houses, though for me last Spring was ultimately most about refreshing color combinations ( I still get a thrill at the rediscovery of pairing yellow and gray!) (more…)

What a gorgeous gemstone. From the family of minerals called “beryl,” it is one of the most stunning of earth’s creations. Aquamarine literally translates to “sea water” and that is what comes to mind when you look into the depths of this gem.
It’s lucid color is reminiscent of the clear turquoise water of the Caribbean Ocean. A close relative to emerald, it has a slight greenish tint mixed into the most beautiful transparent blue. (more…)

This trend isn’t limited to fashion. Offerings for your home are available in ombre too.

Recently I’ve seen a lot of “ombre” or gradient shading in clothing and accessories. This is a kind of tie dye trend, but upscale (ombre , en francais, means shaded). The mix of colors reminds me of a rainbow, hence the Kermit the Frog “Rainbow Connection” reference.
The first sight of this trend, for me, was by Prada. I love the patent shades of their Vernice Sfumata clutch. L.A.M.B. offers a rich green Manchester ombre tote. The wallet friendly Caprice tote is a fraternal twin of Gwen’s Manchester tote. Another side of the spectrum is Fendi’s pastel doctor bag….what a sherbet- like treat. And YSL‘s Raspail red and canvas tote reminds me of my favorite painter pants (from 5th grade).

Anything with a horse on it reminds me of the book”Misty of Chincoteague”. I loved this story so much as a child because my grandmother grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, near Chincoteague. And what little girl doesn’t dream of riding and owning a horse or pony.
Urban Outfitters equestrian sweater or Starling’s horse hoodie are perfect tops for a day at the stables. Or find your mare (I mean mate) while dazzling in this Development horse print dress.
If you need just a little horse sense, then opt for Gara Daniells horse charm bracelet. Robin Rotenier’s running horse and horseshoe cufflinks will win you a blue ribbon, as a Father Day’s gift. Roberto Cavalli’s patent horse buckle belt will charm the pants off any philly.
Now thinking of fish, without a doubt, brings us to the pages of “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish “by Dr. Seuss. (And of tropical vacations- near some turquoise water.) (more…)

This season designers have embraced animal prints in a new and fresh manner. Instead of the typical leopard spots and tiger stripes, look forward to a new animal profile.
Many different animals are making their way to our closets this season reminding me of my favorite children’s books, along the way.
I find inspiration in “The Wind in the Willows” with Marc Jacobs’ Rana pouch in fun spring colors. It’s a leather pouch with a beautiful frog embellishment on the front. Hable Construction’s felt appliqué pillows have a friendly frog hopping its way onto your couch.

In this month’s issue of In Style Alicia Keys’ almond shaped eyes are accentuated with a bright peacock green. She looks amazing. When I saw it, I said to myself - “YES!”
I have been noticing bold colored makeup popping up hither and tither. When I read Julie’s blog post on ‘The beauty of brights’, I knew it was true and here to stay. With so many great color choices being offered this is my equivalent of being a ‘kid in a candy store.’ (more…)

This newest trend has me ‘popping my cork’ with delight. Once designers parade out their new cork accessories, I know warm and sunny days are in the not so distant future.
Cork soled shoes have been popular since Carmen Miranda starting shaking her fruity hat but designers have updated the style by adding interesting patterns, metallics, and used cork as material on vamps (not just soles). Finally, a stylish shoe that is inherently comfy. Christian Louboutin offers a pair of heel, while Chadwick’s offers a d’Orsay pump.
