To help my clients create an environment that they will call Home. It’s important that your home reflects you, your lifestyle and your values.
My passion for interior design is reflected in the clients I serve. My greatest accomplishment is the relationships that I have developed over the past twenty-plus years by making my clients’ vision for their homes come true. My greatest reward is hearing my client say “I love It!” This is the end goal of every project.
My style buzzwords would be “Casual Elegance”. No matter what your personal style is – Traditional, Modern, European or Eclectic – I believe in comfort and usability. Gone are the “trophy rooms” which weren’t used, but just for show. Today’s homeowner wants to live in their entire home and they want it to be comfortable and inviting. My commitment to you as your interior designer and color specialist is to guide you to solutions that are right for you based on your needs and preferences.

I work assisting homeowners, like myself, who are ready to change the color of their walls or are
considering re-modeling or even choosing colors for a new build and they just don’t know where
to begin or they find color decisions overwhelming….that’s where I come to the rescue.
I offer two opportunities to eliminate “color catastrophes” for my clients; either in their home or at
a local Sherwin-Williams paint store where we consider 5 distinct items (layout & purpose,
lighting, fixed features, decor and inspiration pieces along with my color wheel to select the
perfect color(s) for your space(s).
You not only have to “adapt” to the new color but you also have to “adopt” the new color and I
can help you feel happy and successful about the new addition to your space!
The reason my technique/approach works is because we refer to my color wheel to determine
overall warm or cool color relationships in your space prior to your final color decision to ensure
harmony and success. Plus, it’s exciting to feel confident about your color choices!
I am actually proof that as someone who has always loved color (even studied color and lighting
way back in college in the dark ages of the 1970’s); I’ve had plenty of my own “color
catastrophes”. To solve my own problem I had to get educated on color and the science behind
it and finally…. now there are no more ‘faux pas’, only ‘faux painting’ and wonderful color
selections in my world! As a color consultant I can help to eliminate your “color catastrophe” so
that you can enjoy not only the process of choosing a new color but the end result as well!

Growing up in a beach house in New England Julia was encouraged by her parents to express herself through art and design. She had a passion for creativity and learned to cook, sew, and paint at an early age. She painted her own bedroom as a child, drew every night while her mother cooked dinner, rearranged furniture in the house as well as created accessories for different rooms. At the young age of twelve, Julia landed her first job sewing clothes for a local boutique. It was then she knew she would make a lifelong career using her natural talent, practical skill, design and creative vision. When she was a little girl her grandparents introduced her to an artist friend of theirs who encouraged Julia all the way through high school to attend art school. She graduated with a BFA in painting from UMass in Amherst, MA and attended the Museum schools both in Boston and Worcester, MA and R.I.S.D. along the way.
At twenty three she married her next door neighbor, moved to San Francisco and pursued her career as an artist, mother, clothing designer and professional organizer, always showing her paintings in galleries throughout the Bay Area. She has gone through several transformations with her paintings and her latest paintings have been inspired by her early morning walks along the bay. She observes the water in different lights depending on the time of year. Some mornings the fog is so low that she has an etherial view of the water and she has captured that in her new pieces which are layers of paint covered with a thick coating of clear resin, mimicking the water. Her latest series of paintings are dreams, memories and seasons, all having a simple, sophisticated and elegant watery theme.
Julia makes West coast outdoor living come to life with beauty, precision and detail in her art.
She lives by the water in Mill Valley and paints in her studio in the Mission district in San Francisco. The greatest artist influences in her life have been Chuck Close, who spoke to her graduating class, leaving her with the message, “as an artist, your job is to create, work hard every day, and not behave like a temperamental artist, but a business person.” The second one was Franz Klein whose paintings flanked the doors to the museum of the School of the Worcester Art Museum. The impact that they had on her was so profound that she chose the school over all the others she was considering.
