Metallics at Home PDF Print E-mail

Metallics are hotter than ever for homes this year, and adding a little glitz to your domain has never been easier or more affordable.

From the guilded walls of Versailles to a classic, stainless steel Sub-zero refrigerator, nothing has added instant glamour to a room over the years quicker than a metallic finish.
Luckily, today's options go way beyond the gleaming pieces fit only for a royal family and their budget.

When you think of metal finishes around your home you may first think- appliances, lighting and bathroom fixtures- but did you also think dining room chairs, the backsplash around your kitchen sink, the walls of your entrance way and the pillows on your bed?
Today the beauty of gold, silver, bronze, copper, zinc and plantium have made their way to every part of the home.

In your bathroom a wall of stainless metallic tiles behind your tub screams ultra modern- while a few copper tiles peppered throughout your kitchen backsplash speaks of old world charm.

A stainless steel coffee table in your living room cohabitates nicely with your grandmother's antiques the same way a set of aluminum chairs complements a rustic farm table on your front porch.  It's all a lovely twist on a style often referred to as ancient/modern.

Add instant glitz to any room by painting it's walls with a soft metallic finish.  These new shades often referred to as "muted metallics" have the sophistication of their shinier counterparts, but are much easier to live with, especially in larger spaces, and provide the perfect backdrop for any decor.

If you're a little braver of heart and want to make a real statement look to metallic wallpapers, from traditonal chinoisserie to more modern motifs, these papers are back in style.

Use them to turn your entrance way or powder room into a living "jewel box' , paper the back of bookshelves or cabinets to make a collection pop, or better yet add some serious "wow factor" to your dining room by papering the ceiling!

Soak in a copper tub, walk across a pewter-toned rug, slumber in silver-toned bedding or flip the switch on a new golden light- wherever you add a touch of metallics, it will be sure to add 24 karat style to your home for years to come!Owens Corning has registered a trademark for the color pink in the housing industry
