A Message from Valparaiso?

Until a few years ago I didn’t know that there are at least three cities in the world named Valparaiso.

I learned this little bit of trivia when I was invited by my good friend Mary Bird to see the play Valparaiso by Don Delillo.  The title refers to three cities with the name Valparaiso; one in Florida, Indiana and Chile. In the play it was the fate of the lead character, Michael Majeski, to start off on a business trip to the first one, and through a series of mistakes by the airlines and poor decisions of his own, to end up instead in the other two.

Today, when I glanced at our web stats I noticed that two visitors, one from Valparaiso, IN and one from Valparaiso, Chile had both visited this blog one right after the other.  It made me remember my fun evening with Mary and the casts of the Forum Theater in DC.

It also made me think to myself, “Now all we need is someone from Valparaiso, FL.”Valparaiso

Well, if you know me I’m sure you already know where this is going, right?  Yep you got it.  Later that day when I walked out to the hospital parking lot a sticker on the very first car I saw caught my eye. It was advertising a place in Valparaiso, FL.

This is just another one of those coincidences (or is it synchronicity) that makes me wonder what message the universe is trying to send to me.  I know from past experience that it is best to listen to whatever comes to mind and then take action.  So what might Valaraiso be calling my attention to?

Call my friend, Mary who invited me to the play since I haven’t talked to her in ages? Check!

Review my travel arrangement for my next trip? Check!

Add Paula Doelling-Lynn from Valparaiso, IN to my Twitter faves page?  Check!

Well, if it was something besides one of those three things I’m sure to find out soon enough.  I’ll keep you posted. :-)
