Tricia Davidson, principal and co-managing partner of Duffy & Partners, Minneapolis, Minnesota, was our keynote speaker this morning with a presentation titled “The Democratization of Design” in which she shared her winning design solutions for leading companies including American Eagle Outfitters, Fresca, Susan G. Komen and my personal favorite The Islands of the Bahamas.
She shared how Duffy & Partners help clients navigate this new design-centric cultural landscape – where customers reward those companies that embrace great design in all they do.
Tricia showed us how a brand vision includes not only the image a company projects outside its corporate walls but within those walls and how Duffy & Partners carried the brand’s image consistently into their client’s corporate and retail environments.
Tricia left us with the these Duffy & Partner beliefs to think about as we design our companies and our lives.
We believe the greater opportunity is about helping people live a designed life.
- It’s not about being a designer, or even a creative professional.
- It’s about discovering what defines you, what inspires you — personally and professionally — to create your best life, as you define it.
- It’s about a way of looking at things; a way of making decisions to create a life that is more satisfying in all aspects.
- A designed life may look entirely different at 25 than it does at 52.
- It’s about your toothbrush; your music list; what you do for a living; what you do for fun; where you live; how you dress; where you vacation; and how you entertain.
These are powerful reminders of our purpose regardless of what business we are in.
