By the way, if you believe in trends, then Loaiza pitches miserably for any team associated with the color blue: On team’s with the predominant color as blue (so not Washington), Loaiza is 43-49 with an average 5.51 ERA over those seven seasons. Tossing in Washington (just for the sake of argument) Loaiza ends up being 55-59, with an ERA average over those seasons of 4.64.

The colour of balls used in the English one-day game could change from white to pink if trials by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), guardians of the laws of cricket, prove successful.
“Paint tends to flake off white balls and we have asked (manufacturers) Kookaburra to produce a batch of pink ones because these show up so much better,” MCC’s head of cricket John Stephenson told Tuesday’s edition of the Times newspaper. “The challenge is to produce a ball which retains its colour.
Former England captain Mike Gatting, the ECB’s managing director of cricket partnerships, said: “We have tried white and orange balls and perhaps pink ones will last longer. This is a very interesting and very wise development and a colour may have been found that is easier on the eye.”

In 1937, Augusta National club members began to wear Green Jackets. They originally wore the jacket to signal that they were “part of the club”.
Today the green jacket continues to send the message that those wearing it are “part of the club”. A club of winners that is. An elite group of “the masters” of the game and the green jacket has come to symbolize a pinnacle of success for professional golfers.

India’s cricket team is an aggressive and hard working team but the wins don’t add up to the amount of losses.

Another city uses color to support their home team as Indianapolis turns blue this weekend in support of the Colts as they take on the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game. The town seems to be taking blue to the extreme and Mayor Bart Peterson says downtown will be lit up in blue and some of the buildings downtown will be configured to resemble the sign of a horseshoe [the Colts logo]. Colts fans may be donning the color for the big game but certainly won’t be “singing the blues” if their team is victorious this weekend.

CHL Memphis RiverKings stand out players Derek Landmesser, Louis Dumont, Travis Banga, and Larry Sterling will be using pink Susan G. Komen commemorative sticks as they face off against the Odessa Jackalopes on Saturday, January 20th. The pink sticks will be auctioned off following the game.
“We are thankful to the players using the pink commemorative sticks, and are excited to auction off several of the used sticks following the game,” said Nicole Hernandez, Fundraising Chair for the Mid-South Susan G. Komen affiliate located in Memphis.

Baltmore is already a sea of purple as fans don this regal color in a show of support for The Ravens. Friday, January 12th has been desigated Purple Friday to celebrate the 2006 AFC North Champions. Look for fans to be showing their Raven’s pride by wearing PURPLE everywhere in Baltimore this Friday.
An initiaitve to “Light the City Purple” has been launched by Mayor Martin O’Malley’s office. Business owner’s downtown are being asked to place purple gels, coverings or bulbs in their windows and on signs so the city will will glow in this royal hue as fans come together to celebrate their home team.
