Some of the highlights of the Color Marketing Group Fall 2008 International Conference. Clicking on the link will take you to the post I wrote about each event:
On Sunday morning, we had a fabulous keynote speaker Tricia Davidson of Duffy & Partners. She received rave reviews from the member and I wrote a post about her talk The Democratization of Design.
Sunday evenings dinner included a cocktail party and silent auction of original artwork and items donated by CMG members. Thanks to the generosity of the Color Marketing Group members attending the conference we raised over $4000 for our benefit nonprofit organization Publicolor.
Our Tuesday keynote speaker was Richard Tait, co-founder of famed board game Cranium (more…)

I myself am a member of Capital Speakers Club so am most honored to have been asked to speak about my favorite topic–COLOR–as the primary speaker at our monthly luncheon. (more…)

This morning was my presentation of “Using Color to Create Moods in Your Home” for the Friends of the Larchmont Library. It was fun and the audience asked some great questions.
When I mentioned I would be giving a talk there some people seemed a bit surprised but I enjoy smaller audiences where you can connect in a relaxed setting. It gives me insight into what people find helpful and what they want to know about color.
It seems I’m not the only one that enjoys these venues. Ten days ago the speaker was Peter Kaplan, editor of the New York Observer (more…)

As many of you might recall I have had the good fortune to present at the House Beautiful Color Institute this year, which recently made its way to San Francisco.
The opening event included magazine editor Stephen Drucker interviewing guest designers Suzanne Tucker and Paul Vincent Wiseman a la “Inside the Actor’s Studio”. I always enjoy this part of the morning session as I love to hear how other creative people think about color.
On Saturday the San Francisco Chronicle had a nice wrap-up of the Color Institute event.
An excerpt from the article:
Tucker and Wiseman surprised Drucker by declaring their favorite color to be yellow - “it’s beautiful with contemporary, with metallics, with antiques, and it’s very flattering,” said Tucker, who takes into consideration her clients’ coloring when choosing paints. br>

Drucker, who has taken the Color Institute to other cities, declared that: “No one in (more…)

I spoke yesterday at the Inter-Society Color Council along with several others and it turned out to be a day where I was both imparting and absorbing knowledge.
Robert Buckley, Xerox and ISCC President had a few opening remarks and then one of my colorful friend’s Leslie Harrington, Executive Director of Color Association of the US dove right into her talk. I was Leslie’s Vice Chair last year for the CMG conference and I shared the stage with her again today as she talked about “The reds of love and rage: A note on the risks of eliciting negative emotions” and I talked about “Macro moods to industry insight”. Maybe I can get Leslie to join me on a webinar to share her study of red very soon.
Next up was “A retrospective on the color courses of Ralph Stanziola” by Kim Galloway. I’ll be the first to admit that this doesn’t sound that interesting especially since he taught in the technical area of color but I’ll also be the first to admit when I’m wrong. I don’t think there was anyone in the room that didn’t have their eyes glued to the screen as Kim played clips of Ralph in action. Not many people have the talent to talk about technology in a way that captivates the non-technical crowd but we learned from Kim that this was one of Ralph’s many gifts. (more…)
