Julie starts writing an article on Metallics in the Garden and everywhere I look I see something with a metallic finish. Isn’t it funny how that happens?
Sure it is a hot trend right now but because I have been talking about it for quite some time as part of the trend forecasts I wan’t even seeing it anymore it seems. That is until Julie mentioned it. Now it has my attention again so I decided to share some of the shine I’m seeing with you.
Start exploring the metallic trend by reading Julie’s inspiration for the article on Live in Full Color and then head over and see the beautiful pictures and read the full article Metallics in the Garden on Sensational Color.
Then check out Color Buzz blog where Michele suggests the following for adding metallics to your home:
In order to create this effect in your home, use Valspar’s Brushed Pearl technique. Valspar’s instruction guide notes that this decorative painting method “imparts a dimensional iridescent finish to walls. This faux finish is subtle, incorporating gentle tones for a muted effect. It’s simple to apply and will add elegance and sophistication to any room.”
You might remember that I used Valspar’s Brushed Pearl in the bathroom in my own home that I recently sold. It was just beautiful and you can see the pics and post on Color for Your Home.
Even when I popped over to HouseBeautiful.com I happened upon the slide show of crowns.
Everywhere We Look…We See Crowns
You don’t have to be royalty to give your home the royal treatment. All it takes is a pillow…or a pot rack.
Sure, I saw this feature in the magazine but again it hadn’t caught my attention as it did this week in the context of thinking about metallics.
The most unlikely use of metallics I saw via CMG Found was the floor in the NYC Standard Hotel covered in pennies. Isn’t this a fun flooring idea? Since I always love looking at a handful of pennies with all of the variations in their copper patina you know I love this. I found this picture and more on Notcot.com.
Where are you seeing metallic finishes?
