I enjoy browsing Flickr to see what catches my eye and today it was this photo of Fragment of “No. 5 / No. 22″, Mark Rothko, 1950, MOMA, NY.
Even among dozens of photos I was immediately drawn to this one but considering how much I enjoy Rothko paintings I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.
I think this is a beautiful warm color palette.
As I was pulling the colors I realize that the palette is very similar to what I used in part of my own home. The lower color is very much like the main color of my kitchen (BM Audubon Russet HC-51) and the deeper color in the middle is one of my accent colors.
The upper the color is like the walls in my dining room (Ralph Lauren Suede that I custom blended in a gold that is very close to BM Greenfield Pumpkin HC-40).  These two rooms are adjacent to each other and never tire of the color scheme. Maybe that’s why this grabbed my attention.
Or maybe it was that I was influenced by this look from the Viktor & Rolf virtual runway show.  I could have pulled an almost identical palette from this fashion forward look.

Do you find yourself attracted to the same color schemes over and over again? Even if you never really noticed I bet that you have color combinations that strike a chord with you over and over again. This is one of mine.

I have a photo of April in front of this very painting from MoMA. Her red hair goes so nice with the color scheme.

If it’s okay with April let’s post it. I can just imagine this as a great background for her fiery mane.
