I had the pleasure of attending the opening party for the House Beautiful Kitchen of the Year last evening at Rockefeller Center.

The weather was perfect for an evening al fresco event and the it was great fun to explore the details of the Christopher Peacock designed kitchen.

There were too many neat details to share them all but a few of the things that caught my eye–
The black walnut cabinets which just begged me to rub my hands over their surface.
The Delta Pilar faucet that turned on and off with just a brush anywhere on the faucet rather than having to turn or lift a handle. It is the perfect solution for those times when my hands are messy and I hate to touch the fixture. With this I could just brush it with the side of my wrist and voila– running water.
I would love to have the Jenn Air appliances for an oh-so-pro cooking environment with ample storage and oven space for entertaining.
Of course the idea of having a computer command center in the kitchen speaks to me. Some may think it brings out my inner tech geek but the truth is the idea of having everything I need at the touch of screen appeals to my sense of simplicity and organization.
The main area topped off with a structured glass ceiling allowing the room to be flooded with natural light.
Thanks to my friends at House Beautiful for inviting me to the launch event.
