Today the Color Marketing Group’s highest honor was presented to Susan G. Komen for the Cure in recognition of their work toward associating the color pink with awareness of breast cancer.
Speaking at the CMG’s Fall Conference being held in Tampa, CMG president Jack Bredenfoerder said: “The Dr. Forrest L. Dimmick Award of Excellence in Color Marketing is presented for revolutionary, dramatic or exceptional contributions to the field of color marketing…CMG is honored to present our highest award to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.”
He noted that, together with other organizations, “the Komen organization has used the color pink to raise breast cancer awareness to extremely high visibility around the globe. The association of pink with the cause of breast cancer awareness has firmly established it as the new power color for women,” he said.
The award was accepted by Chris Orzechowski, brand marketing director of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, on behalf of the organization’s founder, Nancy Brinker.
Given by Color Marketing Group for internationally recognized achievements in the advancement of color marketing, the Dimmick Award has been presented in the past to the U.S. Postal Service, Dale Chihuly, Target Corporation, Disney Enterprises, Alexander Julian and Apple Computer.
