I myself am a member of Capital Speakers Club so am most honored to have been asked to speak about my favorite topic–COLOR–as the primary speaker at our monthly luncheon. (more…)

This morning was my presentation of “Using Color to Create Moods in Your Home” for the Friends of the Larchmont Library. It was fun and the audience asked some great questions.
When I mentioned I would be giving a talk there some people seemed a bit surprised but I enjoy smaller audiences where you can connect in a relaxed setting. It gives me insight into what people find helpful and what they want to know about color.
It seems I’m not the only one that enjoys these venues. Ten days ago the speaker was Peter Kaplan, editor of the New York Observer (more…)

Today I’m involved in the Color Marketing Group’s New Member Training so not much time to post.
I love to meet new members and hear all about their Views on Hues.
Above are boards that Ken Charbonneau, CMG used to illustrate his presentation in the morning session.

When I presented at the Apartment Therapy meet up earlier this month I met Rachael Grad one of their DC writers. I immediately liked Rachael but when I learned that she had recently given up law to pursue her passion for art I knew I had found a kindred spirit.
As many of you know quite a few years ago I gave up my lucrative corporate position in order to regain a bit sanity in my hectic life as a single mom and to focus completely on color. At the time most of my friends and family thought I had lost my mind but it has turned out to be one of the best decision I ever made. I bet some people thought the same thing when they found out what Rachael was up to but all it takes is (more…)

The development, use, and perception of color is the subject of a new exhibit at the Harvard Museum of Natural History called “Language of Color,” which runs until September 2009.
“Language of Color” examines not just the uses of color for camouflage, mating, and warning, it also examines the structure of color, highlighting how the color blue, for example, is not made from pigments, (more…)

Just as summer transitioned into autumn my son was born and each year his birthday punctuates the moment when I’m finally willing to let summer slip away into the crisp, cooler days of fall.
This is a picture of me as a new mother enjoying my son, fall colors, and soft sunshine outside of Chattanooga, TN where we lived at the time he was born. I think TJ is about a week or so old and he looks so small you’d never know he weighed in at just under 10 pounds when he was born.
TJ’s birthday has always come complete with a picture perfect autumn day and (more…)
