Trend Tuesday: Spring Break Blue

It’s officially Spring! That means warmer weather, kids on break, vacations, and bright, refreshing colors. It’s been such a cold winter. (I can’t believe it’s March in the South and I still have my heat on! According to the my local weather it’s supposed to be 70 today. Well, it’s about time!) Many of us are looking forward to the grass turning green, flowers blooming, and beaches. Spring break brings the excitement of Summer fun and what a better way to show off our 2010 hottest hue (blue) than through some fabulous destination spots.

When researching and forecasting the next fresh trend color we look to see where people are traveling, the cultures influencing the world, advancements in technology made by different regions, the economic changes of other countries, natural disasters, and even major future events planned for a specific city. Currently, some of the most influential and inspiring areas are Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Brazil, and the Caribbean.

I didn’t make it to any of these beautiful places for Spring Break this year, even though I’ve been planning a trip to Skopelos Island, Greece for the last two years. Business has kept me too busy, hopefully 2011 will be the year. (Keeping my fingers crossed). For now I thought I’d take you with me on a little color mini-vacation via rooms that are inspired by these dreamy spots decorated in our fashionable and friendly blue!

1. Mediterranean Blue

I love the wallpaper and the little touch of animal print. This is exactly how I would envision a modern Grecian inspired interior

The splashes of yellow in the above images are like a bright sunny day adding a warm, happy element pairing nicely with the fresh blue

This would be the perfect outdoor dining table for a roof top terrace overlooking the Aegean Sea, or in your backyard, or even in your kitchen

I love that John is originally from Greece and his interpretation of this blue is absolutely refreshing

2. Egyptian Blue

This room really captures the sand color from the pyramid and the blue sky, feels exotic but not funky

Barclay has a real talent for mixing blues and bringing in warm complex neutrals for balance creating a very harmonious atmosphere

3. Caribbean and South American Water Blue

I can’t get over how much this room above resembles the landscape in the image from Rio. Wow, now that’s how to get inspired!

It’s fascinating how the character and mood of the color changes when you shift from the true bright blues to the tropical watery blue-greens. Every day I am in awe of all the wonderful things color can do!

And I am good with that. Thanks for the wonderful color inspirations – so timely – we’re just wrapping up a new business card design for ourselves and Bright-A** Blue is what we’re calling the accent lines!
