The Tuscan style with its warm sun-kissed palette is a one of the most colors popular kitchen trend today. Here are some tips to bring that Old World charm into your home.
Floors:
- Tumbled stone, weathered tile, accented with painted tiles reminiscent of an Italian farm house
Cabinets:
- Cozy aged woods
- Storage nitches for an unstructured look
- Hand-hammered hardware
Counters:
- Granite or quartz surface
- Tumbled stone or tile backsplash
Walls:
- Faux finish in Terracotta’s and oranges
- Artisan details, painted grape vines or flowers
Windows:
- Roman shade
- Gossamer fabric on an iron rod
With these simple tips your Tuscan kitchen is not that far away.

Denise,
I enjoy your posts a lot. I’m a contractor by trade but love working with color and theme. Your guidelines for Tuscan Kitchen look like the Tuscan kitchen i did for my rental house.
I think I hit about 90% of your suggestions. I’m doing another rental unit now for young (20 something) urban professionals. Theme is based on Gotham City (yes Batman’s home town) with steel beams, narrow maple strip flooring, deco/industrial lighting, black appliances, decorative glass. I’m wondering if you have suggestions for wall colors and countertop material. You can see pix (Tuscan kitchen) at my web site if you wish. Thanks so much.

I need a little guidence, I am renovating a Katrina damaged home,. It is taking a long time and I want everything perfect, or as much as it can be.
I have a townehome,, living room, and kitchen run together,, maple cabinets with a mocha stain, so the cabinets are basically almond with a little color, I am using teak, hand scraped floors throughout, not much light, just a large set of french doors leading to patio, and a small garden window in kitchen, I was thinking black galaxy granite, little spec of bronze, its beautiful, and oil rubbed chandliers and faucets. Soooo,,, what color do I paint,,, or should I change something> please help
