Sensational Showroom in Selangor

Wow, I can’t believe I’ve been in Malaysia for a whole week now (that’s already minus the 48 hours of travel). Half of my time here is gone, but as they say time flies when you are having fun, meeting new people, and experiencing new things. So I’d like to go back to the first day I arrived in KL and take you to the first place I went.

After being scooped up at the airport by two of the greatest hosts ever, I went for a quick bite with our client TS Exim/idS Magazine who brought me to Malaysia to teach our Color Certification Course. Then I had the opportunity to go to my first KL designer showroom, Goodrich Global. They are the leading fabric, wallpaper, and flooring supplier for interior designers in the area. It was easy to see this the second you walked in, designers everywhere choosing and spec’ing materials for their clients. There was a certain creativity in the air!

Goodrich is also known for having the latest in fabric trends and keeping new introductions and lines available for their designers. As they took me around the showroom, they pointed out a few of the samples all the designers were raving about. Here’s a look at some of the current favorite fabrics and wallpapers for interiors in Malaysia.

Oversized prints with floral inspired patterns incorporating aquas and turquoises pairing them with yellows, corals, and unique complex gray-brown-taupes.

Pure bright oranges, blues, and blue-greens paired with metallics (anything shiny or glittery) are selling like hot cakes over here, especially in fashion, which I found out later in the week with a trip to the local couture mall. The classic direct complementary combination of orange and blue is everywhere.

Still seeing a lot of black and white or purple combinations, but they are doing everything in their power to make it more interesting and stand out as something new. Here they’ve added rhinestones to the wallpaper for a little sparkle and eye-catching detail. Very cute!

So what do you think of the Malaysia current fabric trends? Are they similar to what you are using?
