We do a lot of remodeling and I often work with the customers (mostly the wives) on selecting things. Verde Butterfly is a beautiful granite and it shows really nicely with slate. They have various colors and sizes of slate available to choose from. I prefer the smaller tiles since this is so popular now. Several patterns could be used and you could even work it together with an enhanced lighter color tumbled stone. Lowes has a good price on theirs. There is also a 2x2 crackled glass at Daltile to use if you worked the lighter stone in and if you don't like the slate, there is also a glass 1x1 to work into a pattern as well.

To anyone with design knowledge---I am also considering verde butterfly granite but am using painted cabinets and have a similar backsplash question. I chose mushroom w/ coffee glaze cabinet around the perimeter of the kitchen (just like the warm gray suggested above) and java stained cabinets for the island with a black walnut floor. Should the backsplash color match the mushroom cabinet's color? I was thinking of a monocolor subway tile or brick pattern-I don't want to take away from the granite. Or do I introduce another color?
Thanks.

Hello Coreen!

As Kate has recommended, colors such as muted gold and warm grey would be a nice combination to compliement the Verde Butterfly. I am envisioning small 1" tiles that are slight variations of different colors that are found in the slab, all toned down as not to compete with how punchy the granite is. Since the granite is darker, the tiles should read light.

I looked up a couple of colors I thought it would be good to match the tiles with: Sico, Inc's "Polar Grey" #4303-11, Benjamin Moore's "Lime Froth" #2031-70 "Stolen Moments #0477 & "Lemon Glow" #2025-60. I think these colors, or any other variations inbetween would be wonderful with the Verde Butterfly!

Enjoy the process, this can be fun! ~Bethany

We are considering this granite for our kitchen - verde butterfly. We will keep our oak craftmade cupboards and replace the hardware. Can you recommend a mosaic tile backsplash that would compliment the granite. We will probably go with 4" of the granite and then a tile/mosaic. Any input on color or deign would be appreciated.
