Today’s color dilemma…
I just painted my family room with Lush Sage by Valspar with yellowish/goldish curtains and roman shades from Pottery Barn. Now my living room looks so unfinished but picking a colour to work well beside the family room seems rather tough. The only colour in the living room is the brown furniture. I don’t even have curtains up it this room. Any help would be so appreciated. Thanks.

We only get a glimpse of your lovely living room but from what little we see you can tell how well the Valspar Lush Sage and the Pottery Barn window treatments work in this room. I’d continue your scheme into the living room.
Since you’re pleased with Valspar I would recommend their Earthen Sienna. It works well with Lush Sage and picks up on the color scheme from the family room so that schemes in both rooms would flow well from one to the other.
You don’t mention what accent colors you have used in the family room but using the same or similar accent colors in the living room will also help to tie the rooms together visually.

When I saw your question and style I instantly thought of one of the Benjamin Moore inspiration rooms called ‘Modern Tranquility’.
I love this color scheme because it has warmth with an air of sophistication perfect for creating an inviting space with contemporary flair.

Today’s color dilemma…
Love the BM Aura paint! The Coral Gables I tried is too harsh in this powder. There is a black console with white ceramic sink. I’m looking for paint color suggestions, please.

You initial choice tells me that you aren’t afraid of color and I think that you are on the right track with the hue but would be more pleased with the color if you take the intensity down a couple of notches.
In a small, enclosed space the color can appear more intense than how it appears on the paint chip. I think that Benjamin Moore’s Creamy Peach will give you the color you are after without being overwhelming plus in a powder room colors that complement the skin tones are especially flattering.

On the main floor of most homes it works best to have the colors in all rooms work together. This doesn’t mean that all rooms have to be painted the same color. You can use your fabrics, accessories, and furnishings to tie the colors together.
For example in an open floor plan if you were to use several different wall colors, a great way to pull the look together is to use coordinated fabrics in pillows, drapes and table cloth.
Making a connection through color will allow the rooms to flow together beautifully

Flowers are blooming, birds are chirping and paint is cracking. Yes! It’s spring time again. Here are some things you need to consider, before heading out to the paint store.
- Color! You can wildly spin your color wheel on the interior, but not on the exterior.
- Consider the neighborhood’s palette; do you need to comply?
- Most paint companies have excellent palettes to choose from.
- To be safe! Paint areas with test quarts on your home; view it at different times of the day.
- The direction of the sun’s exposure impacts the color. UV light hits the Southern exposure the most; causing the most damage.
Paint will give you the biggest bang for the buck; it protects your largest investment.
