Today’s color dilemma…
I’m looking for help with natural oak trim and wood floors. Pretty good light and great artisan wood side tables and hutch. Anything but yellow? Anything bolder? What about something in a green?
2nd question– I’m interested in some ideas for color for living room and dining room with beautiful natural oak trim and molding. There is no way we are going to paint this wood, but we would like ideas for a natural match. Help!!!! –Eileen

Green would be great choice with your oak floors and trim.

When I read your question I immediately thought of Edgewood Green from Ellen Kennon Full Spectrum Paint. This is a subtle green with brown undertones that would be perfect with oak trim and floors.
It also coordinates amazingly well with many other colors.

In this picture ‘Greige’ is in the foreground with ‘Edgewood Green’ in the middle room and ‘Peridot’ in room beyond. A similar scheme might work in your home and all of these colors would look nice with oak.

Here you see it with slate in the dining room. Gorgeous!

A complementary scheme with ‘Red Berry’

And another with ‘Shell Pink’
I think you are on the right track with green and I hope these images have given you some good ideas for colors you can use in the other rooms of your home.
***Readers if you have other ideas or suggestions I welcome you to add them in the comments. I’m sure Eileen would love to hear your thoughts too!***

I also have oak floors (much lighter than the pictures above) and have oak trim at a low chair rail hight and around the window and doors. I would like to put chocolate brown on the walls, but I don’t know if I should just do below the chair and something lighter on top like a golden color or beige? I have a golden color for the curtains and my accent color. Any ideas?
Help! I have the medium oak trim everywhere (chair rail, wayne’s coating, moulding, stairway) and is not going anywhere, we love it. I need to paint the walls to replace wall paper and need help picking out a color. The thing is we also love our deep burgandy solid colored carpet. What can we do? I also am lost with the idea of window treatment of a bay window,2 large windows, and french doors trimmed out in, of course, oak trim.
I appreciate your help!
