How to Wear Spring's Trendiest Hues
Written by Julie Hoylen
The world of fashion is an intensely colored place this season.  Candy-colored patent leathers, shiny metallics, and royal jewel tones are the color trends taking the place of typical pastel shades this spring.

The good news? These trendy shades will look fresh throughout the summer, so a few choice “color” investments now will keep you looking sensational all season long.  The better news?  A little color trend can go a long way, if you know which shades look best on you.

We did our style homework and paired today’s trendiest styles with the season’s hottest hues.  All that's left to do is decide which shades work best for you.

Bright, royal hues caused a stir on the runways for Spring fashion 2007.  From a bright blue, 40’s-inspired head turban at Prada to Ungaro’s fabulous flowing gowns in citrus yellows and shocking pinks, it seems models were styled head-to-toe in bright, pure color!  These shades look especially fantastic in satins and other reflective fabrics.

A beautiful blouse in your favorite royal shade of satin is a great investment this season.  Paired with a fitted skirt or wide legged pants, your look becomes pure 1940's glamor.  Or wear a satin top with your favorite jeans and ballet flats for day, then, come cocktail hour, slip on some sexy heels, a fab piece of lucite jewelery, and you're ready to style the night away.

Metallics are everywhere this season; from eyes to pedicures, you’ll be able to bathe yourself in the richness of silver, golds, coppers, and bronzes.  Metallics can act as a neutral if you choose the shade that goes best with your existing wardrobe.  Golds and coppers act as warm colors, while silver and plantinum are cooler, so check out your closet and decide which mineral-inspired color trends would work best with the colors you like to wear.

If you're a trendsetter, a metallic trench or parka is oh-so-luxe.  Or if you just need a little glitter, a chunky gold or silver cuff, a sweep of high shine eyeliner, or a metallic manicure might just fit the bill.

Shiny patent leathers are gracing every accessory imaginable this season.  Their reflective finishes have a life of their own, so you only have to invest in one or two pieces to make a real statement.  A patent leather belt, a colorful pair of super high stilettoes, or a structured evening bag are good choices to add a litlle high-shine to your wardrobe.

Spring is being called the “season of the dress” - there’s a style and color for everyone!  For day, a simple knit dress or shirt dress will keep you pretty and cool.  Then, for night, go super chic and modern in this season’s “little black, white or whatever-color-you-please dress."

Neutral tones such as khakis, heather grays, and soft whites look lovely in everything from knits to light denims.  Keep them fresh by pairing them with unexpected counterparts, like pale pinks, citrus oranges, and deeper gray/blacks.

Exotic animal skins are hot for accessories, from ostrich and python skin bags and belts to zebra stripped umbrellas.
