The Old-Fashioned Milk Paint Company

Historically and Environmentally Friendly

In 1974, after much experimentation, the Original Milk Paint Company recreated an old Milk Paint formula to provide an authentic finish for their primary business of building reproduction furniture.  Milk Paint is now gaining wider usage because it contains only ingredients that are all-natural and will not harm the environment.  Their authentic real milk paint is truly a "green paint" that comes in 20 colors.

How it Works

Just as in Colonial times, and earlier, milk paint contains lime, milk protein, clays and earth pigments. No lead, no chemical preservatives and no hydrocarbons or other petroleum derivatives are used in its making.  The other ingredients are inert materials. All of our ingredients are food grade or pharmaceutical grade.

Milk paint arrives as a powder and is mixed with water to create the "green" paint.

Milk paint works best on porous surfaces.

Other Products

This company also offers a crackle finish. An extra bond additive is availabe to help the paint adhere to non-porous finishes.
