You have many options available when buying paint for your home and here is my personal take on many of the most popular interior paint brands. Martha Stewart Colors Paint
Martha Stewart remains a decorating favorite because she instructs us on how to make everything in our home more beautiful. She has taken the same approach with her paint line. Unlike most paint sample cards that include a single color or several shades or tints of the same color, Martha's color swatches include stripes of two coordinating paint [more...] Ralph Lauren Paints
The name Ralph Lauren has become synonymous with American style. He redefined American fashion and home decor and has always stayed true to his vision. Ralph was the first designer I ever had a love affair with and he has held a special place in my heart ever since. I was so taken with him in fact that [more...] Ellen Kennon Full Spectrum Paints What I like most about Ellen Kennon's beautiful palettes of paint is that her colors are blended from the seven colors of natural sunlight. Without light-absorbing black or gray, her paints reflect a broader range of light. By using several pigments, rather than the usual two or three, Ellen creates colors that seem to change in different light and space. [more...] Citron Paints Doesn't it make sense that paints blended from eight to fifteen different color pigments would interact more with light than the standard two- or three-pigment paints?CJ Volk thought so, so she created full-spectrum Citron Paints. In addition to using more pigments, CJ also omits light absorbing black, allowing her paints to reflect a broader range of light. I think you'll enjoy how her multi-faceted colors interact and play with light. [more...] C2 Paints
Though available in fewer than 100 storefronts across the country C2 Paints have a developed a following among discerning color lovers. This small but innovative paint company is one of the few available in the U.S. whose colors are made from a 16–colorants system rather than the 12–colorants used by most paint brands. C2 also uses a high quality paint base that when combined with the colorants produces rich more vibrant colors. C2 Paint first caught my attention when they came out with the first pre-painted poster board sized paint sample sheets. I thought this was a simply brilliant idea. No more [more...] Restoration Hardware Paint
Donald Kaufman
I've been a fan of colorist Donald Kaufman since my college days. Is artistic approach to color has always insprired me and his ability to recreate atmospheric feelings inside architectural spaces is incredible.
His approach to color is based on over three decades of studying color, light and space and together with his wife and partner, Taffy Dahl, Donald Kaufman has created colors for many residential and commercial interiors. His approach to color is always well thought out and executed perfectly. Looking at rooms that Donald and Taffy have worked on always leave me in awe. [more...]
Christopher Lowell's Designer Paints Besides the fact that just listening to Christopher makes me smile, I enjoy his down-to-earth style of giving decorating advice. This same approach is reflected in the way he put together the colors for his signature paint line. Christopher has developed what I call an "edited" palette. What this means is that rather than offer hundreds of paint colors he has selected 40+ colors [more..] Cath Kidston
Visiting Cath Kidston’s website is like going through my grandmother’s attic and finding a treasure trove of beautiful floral fabrics and classic furniture items. What a treat.Whimsical, classic and nostaligic are all adjectives that describe her unique, vintage inspired paints, fabrics and accessories for the home. [more...] Kelly Hoppen
Kelly Hoppen is known for neutrals. Soft, sublte beiges, off-white, taupes, and all the many subtle hues in between and create an "an ideal backdrop for bold statements of individual taste and design". Kelly Hoppen interior paint colors are produced by Craig & Rose in a signature palette of about 20 neutrals. Although I am currently favoring full spectrum, complex neutrals I do think the colors she has in her palette are timeless and [more...] Devine Color
When I think of Devine Color I think about the little paint pouches they use for their paint samples. Gretchen was the first to offer these little pouches of color to her customers so that they could view the color in their homes before buying enough paint for the whole room. At the time she first came out with these it was quite innovatinve. The Paint When the chemist asked Gretchen Schauffler what she wanted out of her paint she said she wanted "One that goes on like yogurt and looks like Chiffon." And that is what she got. [more...] Susan Sargent
Susan Sargent’s color sense is simple and playful. She is a fan of rich, vibrant colors and is not afraid to pair a hot pink chair with zebra print or lime green walls with brown furniture. A textile degree earned in Sweden and 15 years spent in a studio gaining hands-on experience as an artist, dyer and weaver [more...]
