Devine Color
Written by Kate Smith

When I think of Devine Color I think about the little paint pouches they use for their paint samples.  Gretchen was the first to offer these little pouches of color to her customers so that they could view the color in their homes before buying enough paint for the whole room.  At the time she first came out with these it was quite innovatinve.

The Paint

When the chemist asked Gretchen Schauffler what she wanted out of her paint she said she wanted "One that goes on like yogurt and looks like Chiffon." And that is what she got.

Devine Color offers 137 rich, warm colors that make wood look more radiant. The paints goes on like yogurt and feels like the rich fabrics you love to touch once dry.  With color groups called Pebbles & Creams, Pacific Trail Mix, Espresso Blends, Valley Vineyard & Spices, Cool Grasses & Evergreens, Natural Blondes, Desert Lights, Silver Skies, Ocean Tide Pools, Woven Tattles & Spun Tales, and Sweet & Hot Beans; you get the idea that the inspiration comes from the region where Devine Colors was developed.

Devine Color also offers paint they describe as Breathable Wall Finish paints are zero VOC (Volatile Organic Compound.)  These paints are said to be not only good for your interior environment but also good for the environment!  The entire line is available in the devinegreen Breathable Wall Finish

Those little paint pouches are still available.  Each pouch will cover 4 square feet of wall so you can live with the color before you commit.  Color palettes are also available for purchase. There are eleven sheets, each depicts a different family of color. You can also buy the palette sheets seperately and 8" by 11" sample pages are also available.
